  • Patent number: 7683986
Abstract: The invention aims at providing a display which can improve viewing angle dependency of contrast ratio in a wide azimuth without changing design of a basic structure of a display element, impairing display quality in a direction showing large contrast ratio and being limited to a state of displaying white or black. The aim is attained by a display comprising: a display element having viewing angle dependency of contrast ratio; and an anisotropic scattering film having an anisotropic scattering layer, wherein the anisotropic scattering film has a scattering central axis approximately parallel to a direction showing the largest contrast ratio of the display element and is located on a viewing screen side of the display element.

  • Patent number: 7683875
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device of the present invention includes: a liquid crystal panel, when both of transmittance at the front and transmittance at an oblique viewing angle are 1 in white display, having such display characteristics that transmission intensity at the oblique viewing angle is larger than transmission intensity at the front; and a drive voltage setting section (LUT and drive voltage generation section) which sets a drive voltage to activate the liquid crystal panel and supplies the set drive voltage to the liquid crystal panel. The drive voltage setting section (LUT and drive voltage generation section) sets a drive voltage in accordance with viewing angle characteristics of the liquid crystal panel, thereby controlling viewing angle characteristics. With this arrangement, it is possible to provide a simply-structured liquid crystal display device capable of displays with high definition without decrease in aperture ratios.

  • Patent number: 7685607
Abstract: The invention provides an embedded processor architecture comprising a plurality of virtual processing units that each execute processes or threads (collectively, “threads”). One or more execution units, which are shared by the processing units, execute instructions from the threads. An event delivery mechanism delivers events—such as, by way of non-limiting example, hardware interrupts, software-initiated signaling events (“software events”) and memory events—to respective threads without execution of instructions. Each event can, per aspects of the invention, be processed by the respective thread without execution of instructions outside that thread. The threads need not be constrained to execute on the same respective processing units during the lives of those threads—though, in some embodiments, they can be so constrained. The execution units execute instructions from the threads without needing to know what threads those instructions are from.

  • Patent number: 7684091
Abstract: Reference images on the respective surfaces of a reference document transported on a transportation path are read out by a first image reading section and a second image reading section, respectively. As a result a first reference readout image and a second reference readout image are acquired. in accordance with the difference between the changes in the sub-scanning direction in the first reference readout image and the changes in the sub-scanning direction in the second reference readout image, the reading cycle of the first image reading section X1 and the reading cycle of the second image reading section X2 are set. This makes it possible to equalize the magnifications of the respective images on the front and back sides of the document, even if the speeds of the document at the times of passing through readout positions for the front and back sides change over time, on account of the wear of a transportation roller.
