Abstract: A method of the present invention for forming fine particles includes forming fine particles on a substrate by supplying, in the presence of inert gas, to the substrate, atoms or molecules of a supply material capable of being combined with a material constituting a surface of the substrate to produce a compound, the atoms or the molecules being supplied from a supply source. The supply source is positioned in such a manner as not to be directly connected by a line with the surface of the substrate where the fine particles are to be formed, and a high-frequency voltage varying positively and negatively, ranging from 100 kHz to 100 MHz, is applied to at least one of the substrate and a substrate supporter for supporting the substrate. This realizes a method for forming fine particles that allows forming highly uniformed magnetic fine particles with a periodic pattern through a simple process at a time.
Abstract: A display device has a reduced number of components, assembly processes, and number of electric wires which can be impediments to the assembly process. The display device includes a liquid crystal display panel, a common circuit board attached to a peripheral portion of the liquid crystal display panel, lamps as light sources, and a light source driving circuit board that drives the lamps. A direct electric connection is established between the common circuit board and the light source driving circuit board, and the light source driving circuit board receives electric power to drive the lamps and a synchronizing signal via the direct electric connection.
Abstract: A PoC communication system (100) includes (i) a plurality of terminal devices (40) that are able to communicate with one another, and a PoC server (10) for giving a speaking right to a terminal device (40). The PoC server (10) includes a speaking right status presentation control section (12) for transmitting to the terminal devices (40), under a condition that the speaking right is not give to any of the terminal devices (40), a reproduction command of instructing reproduction of speaking right acquisition status presentation sound data indicating the condition. This makes it possible for the terminal devices of the multi-location electronic conference system to output a sound according to the holder of the speaking right.
Abstract: In a terminal device, a template containing scripts defining terminal operation used for bi-directional service is obtained and analyzed/stored in advance. The terminal device obtains an electronic program guide, and if a program allowing use of a stored template exists, displays, on the electronic program guide, information indicating presence of the template, information indicating template function and charge information associated with the use of the template.
Abstract: A solid-state image capturing apparatus includes a plurality of pixel sections, a vertical transfer section, and a horizontal transfer section, wherein the horizontal transfer section includes a plurality of transfer gates consecutively arranged in a horizontal direction and a signal wiring for supplying a driving signal to the transfer gates, and wherein a layout pattern of at least one layer of constituent members which constitute the horizontal transfer section is a pattern in which the transfer gates and the signal wiring are connected so that electric charge transfer directions become opposite from each other on both sides of a branching position in the horizontal transfer section.
Abstract: A nonvolatile semiconductor memory device for suppressing a current consumption caused by a transient current because of the potential change of the bit and word lines at the time of shifting between the programming, reading, and erasing actions in a highly integrated memory cell array is provided. A memory cell (1) array comprises two-terminal memory cells each having a variable resistance element whose resistance value reversibly changes by pulse application are arranged in a row and column directions, wherein the memory cells in a row are connected at one end to common word lines (WL1 to WLn), the memory cells in a column are connected at the other end to common bit lines (BL1 to BLm), and a common unselected voltage VWE/2 is applied to both unselected word and bit lines not connected to the selected memory cell during the reading, programming, and erasing actions for the selected memory cell.
Abstract: In a liquid crystal display, an opening is formed in a lateral surface of a bezel of an LCD unit, and the opening serves as an LED module insert slot. An LED of an LED module is arranged on a substrate so as to emit light toward a light guide plate provided on the backside of a liquid crystal panel. The LED module is inserted into the LED module insert slot and fixed to a back plate arranged on the backside of the LED unit by using a fixing member such as a screw.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a display device and an electronic device provided with same. An object of the present invention is to improve an electrostatic withstand voltage of the display device, thereby suppressing breakage of an electric circuit formed in a panel due to static electricity. An intra-panel protective circuit (120) is provided between an input/output terminal (300) of a liquid crystal panel (10) and an intra-panel electric circuit (110), and, an intra-LSI protective circuit (220) is provided between the input/output terminal (300) of the liquid crystal panel (10) and a liquid crystal controller (210) in an LSI (200). A signal line connecting the input/output terminal (300) with the intra-panel electric circuit (110) and a signal line connecting the input/output terminal (300) with the liquid crystal controller (210) are connected with two diodes, respectively.
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate; a second substrate; a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate; a first polarizer provided on a surface of the first substrate which is on the opposite side to the liquid crystal layer; a second polarizer provided on a surface of the second substrate which is on the opposite side to the liquid crystal layer; a first phase compensation element provided between the first polarizer and the liquid crystal layer; and a second phase compensation element provided between the second polarizer and the liquid crystal layer. A plurality of pixel areas are provided for display. The first substrate includes at least one transmissive electrode, and the second substrate includes a reflective electrode region and a transmissive electrode region in correspondence with each of the plurality of pixel areas.
Abstract: A nonvolatile semiconductor memory device according to the present invention comprises a memory cell selecting circuit for selecting the memory cell from the memory cell array in units of row, column or memory cell; a read voltage application circuit for applying a read voltage to the variable resistor element of the selected memory cells selected by the memory cell selecting circuit; and a read circuit for detecting the amount of the read current flowing in accordance with the resistance value of the variable resistor element with respect to the memory cell to be read of the selected memory cells and reading the information stored in the memory cell to be read; and the read voltage application circuit applies a dummy read voltage having reversed polarity from the read voltage to the variable resistor element of the selected memory cell.
Abstract: An object of the invention is to provide a highly reliable electrophotographic photoreceptor having high sensitivity, excellent in light responsivity, not suffering from lowering of such characteristics even when it is used under a low temperature circumstance or in a high speed electrophotographic process, and with less fatigue degradation upon repetitive use. In a photosensitive layer of an electrophotoreceptor, an enamine compound represented by the following general formula (1), for example, the following structural formula is contained as a charge transporting substance, and further at least one of an antioxidant and a light stabilizer is contained. Accordingly, an electrophotographic photoreceptor excellent in sensitivity and light responsivity in various environments, and with less fatigue degradation upon repetitive use is realized.
Abstract: Aspects of the present invention relate to systems, methods and devices for signaling layer characteristics of multi-layer video sequences and for employing these signals in encoding, decoding and translation operations. Some aspects relate to methods and systems for creating an enhanced multi-layer bitstream wherein a scalable, multi-layer representation of a video sequence is enhanced by determining a bitrate characteristic of a layer of the video sequence, wherein the bitrate characteristic relates to a non-scalable, single-layer representation of the layer and attaching bitrate characteristic data to the scalable, multi-layer representation to form an enhanced scalable representation.
Abstract: A system includes additional information together with a video stream, where the additional information is related to at least one of the frames. Preferably the additional information is related to an object within the frame. A receiver receives the video and additional information and decodes the video in the same manner independently of whether the additional information is provided. The additional information is selectively presented to a viewer at approximately the time of receiving the frames. The system may also present information to a viewer from a unitary file containing an image and additional information associated with the image. A selection mechanism permits the selection of objects in the image for which the additional information is related thereto. A presentation mechanism provides the additional information to a viewer in response to selecting the object.

Abstract: A cleaning device of the present invention includes (i) a blade, which has an edge portion to be pressed against a surface of a photoreceptor, so as to scrape toner and (ii) a brush roller, which has bristle whose ends make contact with the surface of the photoreceptor, so as to supply fine particles of a scraped lubricant agent to the surface of the photoreceptor, the blade having a rebound resilience of 10% to 45% and a Young's modulus of 5 MPa to 11 MPa. With this, even when small-particle toner with no corner is used, it is possible to (a) improve a cleaning property while allowing a photoreceptor to have a long life span and without degrading the original electrophotographic performance of the photoreceptor and (b) charge the photoreceptor uniformly.
Abstract: A toner supply device which includes: a multiple number of toner bottles; and a toner supply assembly mounting mechanism having the toner bottles mounted thereon and feeding toner discharged from the toner bottles to a developing unit and is controlled so as to supply toner to the developing unit in accordance with the amount of toner consumed in the process of printing of the developing unit, further includes: micro switches which each detect the amount of toner left in the toner storing portion with toner filled therein; and a controller for controlling the operation of the toner supply device, which selects one of the toner bottles to be used for supply of toner to a toner feed device, based on the amounts of toner in the multiple toner bottles, which are detected by the micro switches.

Abstract: A first insulating film is formed. Then, a gate electrode of a low voltage drive thin film transistor and a mask film for covering a region constituting a channel of a high voltage drive thin film transistor are formed with a molybdenum film on the first insulating film. An impurity is implanted into a semiconductor film while using the gate electrode and the mask film as a mask, thereby forming a high density impurity region. Thereafter, the impurity is activated by performing a thermal process under a condition at 500° C. and for 2 hours, for example. Subsequently, the mask film is removed and a second insulating film is formed. A gate electrode of the high voltage drive thin film transistor is formed with an aluminum alloy on the second insulating film.
Abstract: In the development apparatus and the image forming apparatus of the present invention, a first regulation member for regulating an upper surface of developer is provided on an adjacent and downstream portion with respect to a developer outlet in terms of travel direction of developer. The amount of developer passing below the first regulation member is thus adjusted. On this account, the present invention provides a development apparatus and an image forming apparatus capable of maintaining appropriate amount of developer in the developer container by reducing influence of developer fluidity or the like. With stable stirring performance and development performance, the development apparatus and the image forming apparatus of the present invention perform secure development, including the time period until the extra developer overflows and is discharged.
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide an ink composition having a high permeability as an inkjet ink and permitting high quality image printing even with a high speed. To achieve the above object, the present invention provides an ink composition including: (a) an aqueous medium having a conductivity of 250 ?S/cm (at 25° C.) or lower; (b) a pigment; and (c) a compound represented by the formula (I): wherein m and n each are an integer of 0-11; m+n is an integer of 9-11; x is an integer of 5-9; and y is a number between 2.5-5.
Abstract: A data converter for converting a file having layout information to a file which does not depend on the process properties of an information apparatus is provided. The process which is executed by the control part in the data converter includes the step of determining the attributes of the apparatus to which mail is transmitted if a file is attached to received mail, the step of executing a conversion process if data conversion is necessary, the step of generating a message that mail is incoming which includes information on the location where the file that has been generated through the conversion process is stored, the step of transmitting the message that mail is incoming to the recipient's apparatus, the step of storing the file without converting data if data conversion is unnecessary, and the step of transmitting the received mail to the recipient's apparatus.
