The conductive tape is provided with a length allowance such that the entire length is longer than the shortest distance between a connection part between the conductive tape and the conductive film and a connection part between the conductive tape and the ground electrode.

    Abstract: A method is provided for forming a circuit-on-wire (CoW) assembly. The method forms a flexible line with a plurality of periodic alignment marks used as a guide to place CoW devices overlying a surface of the flexible line. The CoW devices may be LEDs, capacitors, diodes, photodiodes, resistors, thin-film transistors, or combinations of the above-listed elements. The flexible line may be a conductive material, such as a metal wire, and the periodic alignment marks may be vias formed through the wire. If the flexible line is electrically conductive, an electrically conductive adhesive may be applied to the electrically conductive line, so that an electrical connection is formed between the CoW devices and the electrically conductive line. Subsequent to placing the CON devices, processes may be formed on the flexible line and CoW devices such as lithographic etching and thin-film deposition. An active matrix array using CoW devices is also presented.

Thus, the charging control circuit 3 can be activated more precisely in comparison to a case where an output voltage is monitored under the condition that the charging control circuit 3 is operated only by the amount of power generated by the solar cell. Thereby, a power instrument 2 is charged more efficiently with the amount of power generated by the solar cell.

    Abstract: Provided is a display device capable of suppressing reduction in display quality even when pause drive is performed, while allowing the intensity of a light source to be changed in accordance with images to be displayed. In a liquid crystal display device with the CABC function, 7.5-Hz pause drive is performed. A transition period is provided in which images to be displayed are changed gradually from bright image X to dark image Y. In the transition period, the duration of a sub-transition period is five frames. Once the transition period starts, the duration of a vertical display period changes from eight frames to one frame. That is, 7.5-Hz pause drive switches to 60-Hz normal drive. In this manner, the duration of the vertical display period is set to be less than or equal to the duration of the sub-transition period, so that screen refresh is always performed in each sub-transition period of the transition period.
