    Abstract: A process for producing a base oil composition from a deasphalted oil (DAO) feed, where the DAO feed undergoes hydrotreating, hydrocracking, catalytically dewaxing, hydrofinishing, and fractionating to generate the base oil composition. The base oil composition includes a hazy-free at 0° C. heavy base oil comprising (a) a kinetic viscosity ranging from 15 to 21 cSt at 100° C., (b) a 5 viscosity index of at least 95, (c) a pour point of less than ?12° C., (d) a cloud point of less than ?18° C., and (e) a total aromatics content of 2 wt % or less, where the hazy-free at 0° C. heavy base oil maintains a hazy-free appearance when stored undisturbed at 0° C. during a test period.

The composition comprises a calcined co-mulled mixture of psuedoboehmite, a cobalt compound, and a molybdenum compound such that the composition comprises gamma-alumina, at least 7.5 wt. % molybdenum, and at least 2.75 wt. % cobalt. The composition is made by forming into an agglomerate a co-mulled mixture pseudoboehmite, a cobalt component, and a molybdenum component followed by drying and calcining the agglomerate to provide a catalyst composition comprising gamma-alumina, at least 7.5 wt. % molybdenum, and at least 2.75 wt. % cobalt.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a process for combined ethylbenzene reforming and xylene isomerisation comprising contacting a hydrocarbon feedstock containing ethylbenzene and xylene with a catalyst comprising a catalyst carrier and one or more metal(s) supported on the catalyst carrier, wherein the catalyst carrier is an extrudate comprising (i) a ZSM-48 and/or EU-2 type zeolite and (ii) an alumina binder, the extrudate having a shape with a C/A value of at least 3, where C is the circumference of the extrudate and A is the cross-sectional area of the extrudate. The metal may be platinum and the alumina may be a wide-pore alumina. The process displays high conversion rates whilst maintaining low levels of side-product formation.
