Abstract: A dual-axis hinge is mounted between a cover and a base of a portable device and has a connecting bracket, an upper rotating bracket, a lower rotating bracket, an upper active gear, a lower active gear and a transmission gear assembly. The connecting bracket is mounted between the upper and lower rotating brackets. The upper and lower active gears are connected respectively to the upper and lower rotating brackets. The transmission gear assembly is connected between the upper and lower active gears to adjust a velocity ratio of the upper and lower active gears. Therefore, the cover and the base align with each other without a drop whether or not the upper and lower active gears are the same in teeth number or whether or not the included angles between the upper and lower rotating brackets with the connecting bracket are the same.

  • Patent number: 8490248
Abstract: A hinge is mounted between a cover and a body of an electronic device and has an eccentric sleeve and a resisting assembly abutting against each other. When the cover is pivoted, the eccentric sleeve is rotated as well. Because the eccentric sleeve has sectors with varied radiuses, the resisting assembly is compressed to conduct various resisting forces when the eccentric sleeve is rotated. When the cover is opened to a normal visual angle, the hinge provides a constant largest torque. Therefore, the cover is held at the normal visual angle even though the user hits the touch panel on the cover.

  • Patent number: 8427829
Abstract: A dual directional sliding hinge is mounted in a portable device with a cover, a first base and a second base and has a main panel, a first sliding unit, a second sliding unit. The main panel is attached to the cover. The first sliding unit is attached to the first base. The second sliding unit is attached to the second base. When the first and second sliding units slide at the closing position, the cover and the first and second bases are folded to have a smallest volume. Since the first and second sliding units have different sliding distances when sliding to different directions, the functioning units on the first and second bases are revealed alternatively. Therefore, the user can decide to use different functioning units as desired.

  • Patent number: 8402608
Abstract: A hinge is mounted between a cover and a base of an electronic device and has a supporting bracket, a rotating bracket, a mounting bracket and a pintle. The supporting bracket is connected to the base, and the rotating bracket is connected to the cover. The mounting bracket is attached to the supporting bracket and has a positioning wing and two sleeves. The pintle is attached to the rotating bracket, is mounted through the mounting bracket and has a flat wall. The flat wall of the pintle selectively abuts against the positioning wing of the mounting bracket to hold the cover at a desired position. The abrasion between the sleeves and the pintle balances torque.

  • Patent number: 8402609
Abstract: A self-lock hinge is mounted between a cover and a base of an electronic device and has a resilient sleeve and a pintle. The resilient sleeve has a tubular body with a positioning protrusion formed on an inside wall thereof. The pintle has a rod. The rod is mounted rotatably through the tubular body and has a flat wall selectively abutting the positioning protrusion. When the cover is closed relative to the base, the flat wall of the rod abuts the positioning protrusion to lock the cover. Therefore, the cover is self-locked when closing.

  • Patent number: 8406703
Abstract: A portable device has lower and upper casings. A sliding hinge has a stationary frame attached to the lower casing, a sliding frame attached to the upper casing and a resilient positioning assembly mounted between the stationary and sliding frames. The sliding frame has multiple pushing pins protruding toward the stationary frame. The resilient positioning assembly has two sliders and multiple resilient elements disposed between and abutting the sliders. When the upper casing slides relative to the lower casing, the pushing pins move along and push corresponding sliders and pressing the resilient elements. As long as the pushing pins are moved to the other sides of the corresponding sliders, the resilient elements push the sliders back and the upper and lower casings of the portable device are open relative to each other.

Abstract: A hinge is mounted between a cover and a base of a portable device and has a first connecting element, a second connecting element and a pintle. The first connecting element is attached securely to the cover. The second connecting element is attached securely to the base. The pintle is hollow and is mounted through the first and second connecting elements. The wires of the portable device are mounted through the hollow pintle so that the rooms for the wires and for the pintle are overlapped. Therefore, the room occupied by the wires is decreased and the volume of the portable device is also reduced.

  • Patent number: 8266766
Abstract: A hinge assembly has a pintle, a torque assembly and a resistance assembly. The pintle has a head formed on the pintle. The torque assembly is mounted on the pintle at a first side of the head to provide a force to automatically open the cover relative to the body to a first angle. The resistance assembly is mounted on the pintle at a second side of the head to provide a frictional force to hold the cover at a second angle relative to the body when the cover is closed relative to the body. Accordingly, the cover can be pivoted open relative to the body automatically with the torque provided by the torque assembly.

The linking assembly is mounted pivotally on the stationary leaf via a pivoting middle. The main and side sliding leaves are connected respectively to two ends of the linking assembly. With the linking assembly, the main and side sliding leaves are moved simultaneously. Therefore, when the portable electronic device is not used, the main and side sliding leaves fully overlap with the stationary leaf to achieve a smallest footprint. When the portable electronic device performs multiple functions, the main and side sliding leaves are slid out to reveal control buttons.
