  • Patent number: 6164017
Abstract: A folding stage includes a spacing linkage that is adjustable. The spacing linkage locks the folding stage at its final use position. The linkage includes an adjustable link member having an adjustment device. The adjustment device provides for changing the length of the link. The adjustment device includes a housing having a block slidably mounted therein. The housing and the block both include transverse openings for receiving a pivot bolt. The end of the housing receives a bolt threadably connected to the sliding block. A nut on the exterior of the housing threadably connects to the bolt and positions the block relative to the end of the housing for adjusting the length of the link and the position of the spacing linkage.

  • Patent number: 6128881
Abstract: A portable floor system includes a plurality of substantially rectangular floor panels adapted for connection along their edges to form an extended floor surface. The extruded edges include complementary tongues and grooves, and complementary locking members for aligning and connecting the edges of the panels. The tongues include notches and the grooves have complementary vertical pins to aid in aligning the panels during locking. The portable floor system has transitional edge trim panels that provide a transition from the floor surface to the underlying supporting surface. The edge trim panels include ribs forming slots for receiving alignment members that provide alignment between the ends of the edge trim panels. The alignment members include set screws and L-shaped members for inserting into complementary ends of corner edge trim panels.

  • Patent number: 6070367
Abstract: A folding stage includes a folding linkage with cross members and a center lock. The center lock has a handle below the cross members and off to the side of the cross members to prevent pinching of operators' hands and fingers. The folding linkage folds from a use position wherein stage decks are horizontal to form a stage surface to a storage position wherein the bottom of the stage decks oppose one another. In the fully folded position, stage support legs are angled inward slightly. Casters mount at an oblique angle to the telescoping legs and are moved closer to the telescoping legs to decrease the moment of inertia about the legs while maintaining sufficient contact with the floor. Torsion bars mount at the pivoting access of the frame and the telescoping legs to control folding speed. The folding portions of the frame and decks have a center of gravity which is aligned with the pivoting access to decrease the moment of inertia about the pivoting axis.

  • Patent number: 6065802
Abstract: A folding table with seating, the table having an oval shape and seating structure. The folding table includes a pair of semi-circular shaped table top sections folding along the straight edge of each section. A lock maintains the table in the unfolded position and is easily released by accessing an end handle that extends downward from the center axis near the edges of the table top sections. A framework extends downward and out to eight stools, four stools spaced apart around the curving periphery of each table top section. A leg extending below each stool to provide spaced apart supports around the entire table. The folding framework folds the tables top from a planar horizontal position to a vertical position wherein the bottoms of the table tops substantially oppose one another. The stools fold around the ends of the table top in the folded position so that the table requires much less floor pace than in the unfolded, use position.

  • Patent number: 6024026
Abstract: An elevationally adjustable folding stage folds between a use position wherein the panels are substantially planar, to a storage position wherein the panels face one another. Support legs are guided into a proper folding position by a guide plate having a surface angling relative to both the vertical and horizontal axis that provides for moving the leg into a fully extended position. A spacer assembly is utilized which includes a spreader member and a spacer member having tabs engaging the interior of an outer telescoping member. The spacer members provide better alignment and less wobble between the inner and outer members of the telescoping leg assembly.

  • Patent number: 5701703
Abstract: An elevationally adjustable folding stage has a frame which folds from a storage position to use position. Stage panels form a stage surface and are reversibly and interchangeably mounted. Connectors insert into passages from the stage frame through the stage panels and provide quick connection without additional connector elements. The connectors rotate within the channel and compress an annular sleeve member axially, forcing the sleeve outward to engage the sides of the passage and secure the stage panel to the stage. The connectors are at or below the upper stage surface and are accessible axially from above by an actuator tool.

  • Patent number: 5615451
Abstract: A stage or other structure having support legs includes rollers which are mounted so as to be supporting the stage in a first position and having the stage legs support the stage in a second position. A lift mechanism includes actuating pedals near the ground for raising and lowering the assembly. A linkage pivots the roller mounting member between a raised and lowered position relative to a cross member on the frame. A second pedal is selectively engageable by a single foot for retaining the roller assembly in either the raised or lowered positions.

  • Patent number: 5349789
Abstract: An elevationally adjustable folding stage has a frame which folds along a center of the stage from a storage position to a use position. Stage panels of interchangeable widths form a stage surface and are reversible and interchangeable. The stage may also support additional panels between stages extending therefrom to form an extended stage surface. The stage has a roller assembly which lifts the stage up so that rollers engage the floor for rolling between storage and use locations. Connectors between the frame and the stage offer quick connection without additional pieces. Connectors also provide for inserting risers to raise the height of one panel of the stage relative to the other. In addition to the risers, multi-panel supporting bases may be used to support the panels extending from the edges of the stage between stages.

  • Patent number: 4979340
Abstract: A mobile folding choral riser includes a foldable frame having means for receiving a number of removable riser steps at progressively higher locations on the frame. Locking means are provided for releasably securing the steps to the framework. A guardrail is provided along the back of the riser, and the guardrail is pivotable to permit overlapping with the guardrails of other riser sections when a riser in forward configuration (widest step at the back) is placed adjacent a riser section in reverse configuration (narrowest step at the back). Interlocks are provided for securing adjacent riser sections together, regardless of whether individual sections are in forward or reverse configuration. The riser can be folded between transport and operational configurations with locking or holding mechanisms for each configuration.

  • Patent number: 4949649
Abstract: An elevationally adjustable folding stage (30) has two stage surface members (32, 34) which form a planar stage surface. The stage surface members (32, 34) fold to substantially vertical storage position. The stage (30) includes elevationally adjustable telescoping legs (80, 82) which can be adjusted to a number of elevations. Height adjustment pins (128) are remotely released from a location that allows lifting of the stage while simultaneously releasing the height adjustment pins (128) for the corresponding stage surface member. Lifting is aided by lift mechanisms (136) to counter the weight of the stage (30). The stage surface members (32, 34) hinge at a center position and are latched and unlatched by a locking mechanism (150). The locking mechanism (150) uses a spring-loaded member (164) with a finger (170) engaging a cam (172) to guide the sections during folding and biasing a rod (174) to a locked position.
