Abstract: An integrated circuit having at least two vertical MOS transistors, and method for manufacturing same, wherein first source/drain regions of the two vertical MOS transistors are located in an upper region of sidewalls of a trench. A second source/drain region is shared by both MOS transistors and is adjacent at a floor of the trench. Gate electrodes of the MOS transistors that are arranged at the sidewalls of the trench can be individually contacted via parts of a conductive layer that are arranged above the first source/drain regions. In a manufacturing method, such arrangement is made possible by the deposition of a conductive layer of doped polysilicon before the generation of the trench. The area of an MOS transistor can amount to 4F2.
Abstract: The invention relates to a turbo-machine (1) comprising a rotor (25) that extends along a rotational axis (15). Said rotor (25) has a peripheral surface (31) which is defined by the outer radial delimitation surface of the rotor (25) and has a receiving structure (33) as well as a first moving blade (13A) and a second moving blade (13B). Each moving blade comprises a blade footing (43A, 43B) and a blade platform (17A, 17B). The blade platform (17A) of the first moving blade (13A) and the blade platform (17B) of the second moving blade (13B) border one another, and a gap (49) is formed between the blade platforms (17A, 17B) and the peripheral surface (31). A sealing system (51) is provided in the gap (49) on the peripheral surface (31).

Abstract: Located between the frustoconical needle tip and the cylindrical needle shank of a nozzle needle of a fuel injection valve is a frustoconical needle portion, into which is introduced a peripheral groove. Through this kind of arrangement damping is capable of being set, depending on the position of the groove, during the axial movement of the nozzle needle.

Abstract: In the event of a failure or a disruption of an exchange of data between a valve control unit and an operational control unit of an internal combustion engine with electromechanically activated inlet valves, a valve control unit switches over the electromagnetic activation of the inlet valves to full-load control times. The operational control unit suitably sets a throttle valve in order to cause the load control of the internal combustion engine no longer to be performed by the valve load control but rather by the throttle-valve load control in the emergency operating mode.

Abstract: In a system for making expert knowledge accessible to a user, such as a physician, of medical examination equipment, after an inquiry from the user to a physician with specialized knowledge, a system for transmitting a handling procedure in the form of pulse sequences, protocols, sets of parameters or the like for the user's examination equipment is transmitted via a communication system to the user, from the specialized physician. The handling procedure is tailored by the specialized physician to actual medical diagnoses of the requesting user. The communication system is coupled with a license accounting system which arranges for the expert creating the handling procedure to receive a royalty.
Abstract: A heat-resistant housing (G) for electrical function elements (EB) having a receiving chamber (AK) lying as centrally as possible inside it, a cover block (AD), which is sealed with the receiving chamber (AK), and a receiving block (AB), which is inserted into the receiving chamber and encloses the electrical function elements with a material having a temperature-dependent specific thermal capacity, preferably a high-polymer thermoplastic having low density. In the event of a cyclic interplay of heating and cooling phases, a lower stationery temperature results in the receiving block in the proposed structure in comparison to conventional structures, while the overall weight and volume are nonetheless lower. This is achieved by the high-polymer thermoplastic in the receiving block, which increasingly melts as the temperature rises. The large thermal capacity resulting therefrom acts like a heat sink.
Abstract: In an X-ray detector and method for applying a stray radiation grid onto an X-ray detector having detector elements arranged in a matrix that form a detector surface having detection regions sensitive to X-rays and less sensitive intermediate regions, a basic structure for the stray radiation grid is built up over the detector surface directly on the X-ray detector with a rapid prototyping technique and is subsequently coated or filled with a material that is highly absorbent for X-radiation. An absorbent structure thus arises that lies over the less sensitive intermediate regions of the detector surface. Moiré disturbances are avoided in the X-ray image exposure and the detective quantum efficiency (DQE) is increased.
Abstract: In a method and system for processing medically relevant data in the framework of an examination of a patient that is to be implemented, a program is installed in a data processing device that selects one or more examination modalities to be implemented for the examination of the patient on the basis of symptom-specific and/or diagnosis-specific information that have been entered and using symptom-based and/or diagnosis-based data bank. The examination modalities are available as an output at a playback device.
Abstract: A keyboard includes a plurality of key elements arranged in rows and columns in a matrix-like manner. Each key element has first and second break contacts which are decoupled for safety reasons and are commonly activated when the key element is actuated. An energy supply unit feeds to an evaluation unit electric energy serially via the first break contacts for each separate column and serially via the second break contacts for each separate row. In this way the location of the key element actuation can be reliably ascertained through column and row detection.
Abstract: In a magnetic resonance tomography apparatus and method, whereby an interactive contrast optimization is implemented by defining a multi-contrast sequence for exciting nuclear spins in a slice of a subject to be measured, defining parameters characteristic of the sequence, measuring a number of contrast versions of the slice in the form of raw data with the previously defined sequence, processing the raw data of the slice, and thereby generating a number of images of the slice that differ in contrast from one another and generating an image with improved contrast on the basis of an interactive real-time contrast variation of the images acquired by the multi-contrast sequence, via a user interface.
Abstract: In a fiber splicing device, an adjustment apparatus for moving a first fiber-section perpendicular to its end face is designed such that it is composed of at least one piezo-actuator and a drive. After the splicing of the two fiber ends, the piezo-actuator is charged to a preset electrical voltage and the electrical voltage at the piezo-actuator is subsequently measured while the first carriage is moved away perpendicular to the fiber end face and is compared to the preset values. As a result thereof, the tensile stress acting on the fiber can be identified dependent on the movement of the first carriage, so that the drive can be arrested after a preset tensile testing stress has been reached.
Abstract: A support mechanism system has a mechanism base at which a support plate for accepting a treatment and/or examination subject can be detachably attached, and a transport gurney and at least two support plates that are fixable at the transport gurney. One of the support plates is fashioned as an operation plate for carrying out a surgical intervention at a subject, and the other a radiological support plate having at least one radiation-transparent region. Either plate can be optionally attached to the base by a fastening arrangement that is compatible with both plates. The base also has at least one connector for providing operation support for an implement or component used in a surgical procedure.
Abstract: A method is disclosed for generating a PCM code set for encoding data by a PCM encoder in a data transmission system having a digital modem with a PCM encoder, a digital signal transmission path, an analogue signal transmission path with a central office line interface portion, and an analogue modem. The method includes the step of determining a minimum signal level distance between adjacent PCM codes of the PCM code set, the minimum signal level distance enabling discrimination by the analogue modem. Then a line interface attenuation of the central office line interface portion is determined. Finally, the PCM code set on the basis of a power limit computed by adding the line interface attenuation to a central office line interface power limit is generated. The invention further relates to an analogue modem to be operated in such a data transmission system.
Abstract: A method for installing protective components in integrated circuits constructed from standard cells includes reserving sufficient space in the standard cells for at least one protective component, wiring the standard cells and determining which standard cells require a protective component and inserting at least one protective component into the standard cells. A place marker can mark the space required for a protective component in the integrated circuit layout. The protective component can be a protective diode. Protective component connections can be provided in the standard cells. The standard cells can be gate arrays.

Abstract: A gas turbine rotor includes an internally cooled gas turbine blade which has a blade root and a blade platform with recesses into which insert strips are inserted. The gas turbine rotor is arranged in such a way that both sealing against the ingress of hot gas and the emergence of cooling air and the securing of the gas turbine blade can be effected at a low outlay and at the same time are highly reliable. The recess reaches as far as the disk-side base of the blade platform and the insert strip to have a form fit to the disk, which protects against axial displacement in a direction of insertion of the gas turbine blade.

The measurement signal passes through an extreme value between the first and the second end positions. The actual values of the measurement signal in the first and second end position are determined. The position is determined in dependence on the current actual value of the measurement signal, the extreme value, and the actual values in the first and second end positions.
Abstract: A throttle valve configuration having an emergency air device in the form of an additional valve which normally closes off an emergency air opening in the throttle valve, and when the drive fails, can be rotated relative to the throttle valve in order to release the emergency air opening so that the internal combustion engine receives sufficient air to travel to a garage or a similar service center.
Abstract: A capacitive actuator is charged from a charged energy storage capacitor via a transformer by applying pulse width-modulated control signals with a specific voltage, frequency and duty ratio to a charging switch disposed on the primary side. The duration, magnitude and waveform of the actuator voltage can in this case be chosen as required. The actuator can be discharged in the same way.
