  • Patent number: 8259927
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for adaptive filtering in which a level of a reference signal necessary for the adaptive filtering is determined in the context of an adaptation by estimation, using a quantity equivalent to the reference signal, wherein the filtering is dependent on the electrical power of at least one signal extracted from a transmission channel to be filtered, and the equivalent quantity is determined by means of a mathematical function based on the electrical power of at least the extracted signal. The invention further relates to an arrangement with means for carrying out the method.

  • Patent number: 8259914
Abstract: In one aspect, communication link established from a communication unit to a communications system. A request message is transmitted from a communication unit to the work connection computer and checked with the aid of a user profile of the communication unit, to verify whether the communication unit has log-on authorization. If the verification of the request message is positive, the request message is forwarded from the network connection computer to the connection handling computer in the form of a modified request message. The modified request message is analyzed by the connection handling computer with the aid of an authentication profile of the network connection computer. Once the modified request message has been positively analyzed and the communication unit has been successfully registered, a response message is transmitted from the connection handling computer to the communication unit.

  • Patent number: 8248979
Abstract: A base station is controlled inactively provided that no radio signal is received from a mobile terminal in the radio range thereof while radio signals can still be receive from mobile terminals. An inactively controlled base station is once again controlled actively when a radio signal of at least one mobile terminal is received. The radio range, of the base station, is deactivated while radio signals can be received from the mobile terminal when the base station is controlled inactively. Thus, the number of actively controlled base station may be minimized and the environmental impact of radio signals caused by the base stations reduced.

  • Patent number: 8239189
Abstract: A method for estimating a sentiment conveyed by the content of information sources towards an entity is presented. The sentiment is obtained with respect to a query context that may be specified, e. g. by specific terms or expressions, like a product or service name. A sentiment dictionary having a plurality of sentiment terms is provided, wherein each sentiment term has assigned a sentiment value, and at least one of said sentiment terms is associated to a group context. Text documents are screened for occurrences of sentiment terms that are associated to a group context corresponding to the query context. Calculating a sentiment score value is performed as a function of the occurrences of sentiment terms having a similar or same group context as the query context. The method may be carried out automatically without manual analysis of the actual semantic content of the text documents under consideration.

  • Patent number: 8233906
Abstract: A method for determination of a radio coverage and a method for positional determination of a mobile terminal in a multi-cellular mobile radio system in which the actual received field strength for several or all base stations is measured at a number of measuring points in differing locations. The measured values for the actual received field strengths are entered in a databank as actual local values. Interpolated values are calculated from the actual received field strengths for virtual measuring points lying between the measuring points and the base stations and entered in the databank. Substitute values for the received field strengths are calculated for geographical positions at which neither measured nor interpolated values for the received field strengths are available, the substitute values being calculated from the relevant transmitter power, the distance from the relevant base station to said geographical point and a propagation model and entered in the databank.

  • Patent number: 8228918
Abstract: In one aspect, a method for establishing communication in a packet-oriented communications network between a calling (EG1) and a called terminal is provided. In the method, before a call-accepted signal by the called terminal, triggered by a message within the framework of call set-up signaling, a direct, first payload connection is established and maintained between the calling and the called terminal. As a direct result of the call-accepted signal of the called terminal communication is triggered between the calling and called terminal by means of the established first payload connection.

  • Patent number: 8223762
Abstract: A private IP address is converted into a public IP address in a communications network without adapting a client software. The conversion of the private IP addresses into the public IP addresses is carried out via a network address translation. The private IP address of each terminal included in a payload of the IP data packet is convertible into a corresponding public IP address and, if necessary, vice-versa.

  • Patent number: 8223658
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relates to a method for operating a mesh-type network, particularly as defined in an IEEE 802.11s standard, formed by a plurality of network nodes, said network operating at least a first network node that functions as access point for stations which are dissociated from the network and a second network node that functions as connector point for stations that are dissociated from the network. When switching a dissociated station from a radio service area of the first network node to the radio service area of the second network node in said mesh network, an updating of allocation information of nodes based on a route error message which is defined according to a routing protocol valid for the mesh network is carried out.

  • Patent number: 8208374
Abstract: A respective number of terminals are managed by network agents. When initializing a connection between two terminals, the network agent initializes the connection if the relevant terminals are arranged in the same bandwidth-uncritical area. If one of the terminals is arranged in a bandwidth-critical area, the network agent ascertains the requested bandwidth and sends a resource request to an associated bandwidth broker, which uses a topology function and knowledge of bandwidth used by existing connections to check the availability of the requested bandwidth in the bandwidth-critical area of the communication network. The use of network agents and the fact that resource requests are no longer required in the communication network dynamically reduces the load on bandwidth brokers and superordinate bandwidth brokers to a significant extent.

  • Patent number: 8184620
Abstract: Transmitting communication data for a connection between at least one calling first terminal and at least one called second terminal in an at least partly packet-oriented network comprising a plurality of node units, a primary connection being established via the packet-oriented network is provided. User data is detected and evaluated in the first node unit that is designated as a terminal node when the primary connection is established. Parameters of the node unit that are adjustable for converting and/or transmitting the user data are adapted to the evaluated user data. The parameters are transmitted to a second node unit that is designated as a terminal node, whereupon a direct media coupling connection is established between node units which have been designated as terminal nodes along the primary connection, the direct media coupling connection being established with parameters that are adapted to the evaluated user data.

  • Patent number: 8184649
Abstract: In a system in which several data links are available for the transmission while one respective sending unit is allocated to the data links to temporarily store data that is to be transmitted via the respective data link, data packets containing non-real-time critical data are subdivided into fragments of variable sizes prior to forwarding to a sending unit. Data packets containing real time-critical data are preferably forwarded to a sending unit without being fragmented. Additionally, a minimum fragment size can be predefined for the fragmentation process.

  • Patent number: 8185086
Abstract: After an emergency call from a communication terminal has been received by an emergency call center, the position of the communication terminal is determined by querying a database. An area around the position of the communication terminal is defined as danger area and other communication terminals located in the danger area are identified. Communication terminals of rescue workers in the danger area who are to be informed are then selected. Finally, emergency information is generated, which can, for example, contain information about escape routes for potentially imperiled persons or access route information for rescue workers. This emergency information is then communicated to each of the selected communication terminals of potentially imperiled persons and/or rescue workers.
