Abstract: A voice conferencing system assigns voice conferences across multiple media processors. The voice conferencing system may thereby allow voice conferences to proceed, even when any single media processor in the conferencing system does not have the resources needed to handle the voice conference. The voice conferencing system may enhance communication capabilities, without significantly increasing cost or equipment requirements.

Abstract: A telecommunications system includes a network; a social networking service operably coupled to the network and configured to allow registration of users, to allow identification of registered users' interests, and to identify associated users, said associated users being associated with registered users; a presence service operably coupled to the network and configured to determine an availability of associated users responsive to one or more availability criteria; a translation unit configured to convert user information from a social networking service format to a presence service format; and a messaging service operably coupled to the network and configured to send notification messages to associated users determined to be available and having a common interest corresponding to an event responsive to an occurrence of the event and one or more availability criteria.

Abstract: A conferencing system integrates multiple conference types into a mixed mode conference. The mixed mode conference may integrate text messaging (such as instant messaging) conferences, voice conferences, and other types of conferences. The conferencing system may enhance communication possibilities by allowing individuals that cannot participate in one type of conference to nevertheless communicate with others engaged in that type of conference.

Abstract: A telecommunications system, method of managing a telecommunications system and program product therefore. Telecommunications system branches are linked to a network and to each other in a wide area network (WAN). Each branch includes telecommunications devices and a media processor that supports a concurrent port for each local telecommunications device. A controller, e.g., at a data center, selects media processing resources to aggregate system media during conference calls for efficient bandwidth use. The controller may select resources based on user location, Call Admission Control (CAC) policy bandwidth usage, and availability of media resources and media processor ports.

Abstract: A communications system and method of managing communications with multiple appearance endpoints, e.g. Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) endpoints in the communications system. At least one SIP endpoint includes a keyset with multiple lines, at least a primary line and one or more secondary and/or phantom lines. A Back to Back User Agent (B2BUA) manages communications with the SIP endpoints and multiple (e.g., all) line appearances register in a single REGISTER message sent by the primary line to the B2BUA. The B2BUA sends NOTIFY messages for any incoming call and once the call is answered sends an INVITE message to the answering endpoint. The B2BUA includes a media negotiator that negotiates early media with the SIP endpoints upon an indication of a pending call, incoming or outgoing.

Abstract: Devices, systems and methods that generate and test network traffic are disclosed. The exemplary method may include transmitting one or more requests to generate network testing traffic to one or more endpoints, generating network testing traffic from one or more endpoints, and collecting network testing traffic data. Additional aspects of the method may also include transmitting one or more requests to receive network testing traffic to one or more endpoints and receiving network testing traffic by one or more endpoints that received the request to receive network traffic. The devices, systems and methods may provide additional security measures, operational controls and other aspects as discussed later herein.

Abstract: A communications system of networked communications devices, method and program product for such a system. Location and presence information about system users is stored, e.g., in a central storage. An identity context reminder service monitors location and presence status for the communications devices for inconsistencies with stored user location and presence information. The system interprets a user-spoken command to select a recently received telephone number and formulate a dialing sequence to connect the user to the selected telephone number. The associated voice mail, automated response or live conversation may be placed on hold, disconnected, or conferenced with the number selected.

Abstract: An electronic messaging scheme is described that is configurable to prevent intentional and unintentional transmission of electronic messages subject to one or more access restriction conditions. In accordance with one aspect of this electronic messaging scheme, an electronic message is interrogated for an access restriction notice in response to a user command to transmit the electronic message, and a detected access restriction notice is responded to in accordance with a prescribed transmission policy.

Abstract: A telecommunications system includes a telephone routing system; and a presence database manager unit operably coupled to the routing system and adapted to maintain one or more watcher lists of registered users. The routing system is adapted to receive phone calls and provide an indication to the presence database manager unit whether the phone calls originate from registered users. The presence database manager unit is adapted to determine if such a user has a watcher list and transmit an indication to parties associated with the watcher list that said user is present.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide a system for synchronizing participant copies of presentation data during a collaboration session. A presenter/server controlling the session sends synchronization commands when a change in state of the presentation data occurs. The synchronization commands can be received by a mobile communication device and then forwarded to the participant computer system where it is used to synchronize the copy of the presentation data with the presenter/server.

Abstract: A presence information system reports proximity presence status to presence subscribers. The proximity presence status conveys how far an individual is from a phone, computer, or any other endpoint through which the individual communicates, how far the individual is from a presence information server which tracks presence changes, or how far the individual is from any other location, such as an office or a conference room. The proximity presence status supplements static presence states such as ‘Online’ and ‘Offline’. As a result, the proximity presence status helps to provide a more accurate picture of the true presence status of an individual. The presence information system may also track and report proximity presence status of mobile users. The mobile user proximity presence status may be derived from cellular position data obtained from a cellular service provider.
