  • Patent number: 6673175
Abstract: A vibration weld fixture assembly provides a three-piece component joined together with two separate welding operations. The vibration weld fixture assembly includes fixed upper and lower tools that support first and second component pieces, respectively. A center tool, movable relative to the upper and lower tools, moves a third component piece into engagement with one of the first or second component pieces for a first vibration weld operation. The center tool then moves the third component piece into engagement with the other of the first or second component pieces for a second vibration weld operation. A linear actuator assembly moves the center tool back and forth between the upper and lower tools.

  • Patent number: 6672074
Abstract: In a turbine (1) having a moving-blade row which has a moving blade (12) on a turbine shaft (8), and having a guide blade (14) which has a guide-blade row, an especially high efficiency is to be achieved with simple means with the turbine blades (12, 14) being cooled in a reliable manner. To this end, the cooling-medium passage inside the guide blade (14), according to the invention, is split up into a first and a second partial-flow passage, the cooling medium flowing in the first partial-flow passage being used for cooling the guide blade (14), and the cooling medium flowing in the second partial-flow passage being passed on more or less free of losses.

  • Patent number: 6675080
Abstract: Sensors are mounted within a seat structure for measuring seat occupant weight. The sensors can be mounted in any one of various sensor configurations. So that common hardware can be used for each different sensor configuration, a virtual matrix is created and output from the sensors is mapped into the virtual matrix. The virtual matrix includes virtual cell locations that do not have a corresponding sensor output; i.e., there are fewer physical cells (sensors) than virtual cell locations in the virtual matrix. A weight output signal from each sensor is mapped into the corresponding position in the virtual matrix and the remaining virtual cell locations have values assigned to them based on data supplied by the surrounding physical cells. Seat occupant weight is determined based on output from the virtual matrix and the occupant is placed into one of the various occupant classifications. Deployment force of a restraint system is controlled based on the classification of the seat occupant.

  • Patent number: 6672138
Abstract: A method and sensor or sensor subsystem permit improved evaporative leak detection in an automotive fuel system. The sensor or sensor subsystem computes temperature-compensated pressure values, thereby eliminating or reducing false positive or other adverse results triggered by temperature changes in the fuel tank. The temperature-compensated pressure measurement is then available for drawing an inference regarding the existence of a leak with reduced or eliminated false detection arising as a result of temperature fluctuations.

  • Patent number: 6673227
Abstract: The parts are produced by two-component injection molding. Those regions that are to be metallized consist of a first plastic and those regions that are not to be metallized consist of a second plastic. After the entire surface of the parts has been seeded, the seeding is selectively removed with the aid of a solvent in the regions which are not to be metallized. The first plastic is insoluble and the second plastic soluble in the solvent. The selective metallization then takes place by electroless metal deposition and, if appropriate, electrodeposition of metal.
