Abstract: In a rolling mill, an open-loop and/or closed-loop control device and a method for adjusting a discharge thickness of rolling stock which passes through a multi-stand mill train, wherein a first section of the rolling stock is rolled to a first discharge thickness, a second section of the rolling stock is rolled to a second discharge thickness which is different from the first discharge thickness. Because a transition from the first discharge thickness to the second discharge thickness takes place at a feed rate of the rolling stock into the mill train which is adjusted as a function of a discharge rate of the rolling stock of a unit which is arranged upstream of the mill train in the direction of mass flow, a method can be made available which runs essentially without reactions for units which are arranged upstream of the mill train in the direction of mass flow.
Abstract: A scanning probe for an industrial nondestructive evaluation (NDE) ultrasound or eddy current scanning system. The scanning probe gathers reflected waveform data indicative of internal characteristics of the test object. The scanning probe also includes a self-contained multi-axis position encoder that correlates both multi-dimensional probe underside translation and rotation motion across the test sample surface with the multi-dimensional spatial location on the test object surface. The position encoder compensates for probe rotation that would otherwise negatively impact probe position determination accuracy. A data acquisition system combines sets of positional and waveform data for processing by an NDE analyzer.

Abstract: In a method and a reconstruction device for reconstructing an image from MR raw data acquired with multiple coils and entered at sample points on a grid in k-space, the sample points are arranged on data entry trajectories, respectively, along one-dimensional edges in an equidistant grid dimension characteristic for the respective edge. If raw data were acquired at all sample points, k-space would be sufficiently scanned, but the raw data are entered only on a portion of the sample points so that sufficient scanning exists only in an internal region of k-space, with undersampling existing in an external region of k-space.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a first device for updating at least one data element in a data carousel, in which an updating element is added to the data carousel for at least one group of at least one data element, wherein the updating element indicates either the time of update of at least one of the data elements of the group, or a time interval for checking an update of at least one of the data elements of the group. The invention also comprises a method and a second device for checking an update of a data element in a data carousel, wherein the checking of at least one of the data elements is performed on the basis of an updating element that is added in the data carousel for at least one group of data elements. Abstract: In a method for optically transmitting data by means of a pulse-width-modulated light source (LED), a pulse duty factor (N) of a pulse width modulation is specified to set the brightness of the light source (LED). A bright time (T) is divided into at least a first and second partial bright time using at least one blanking so that the data (DATA) to be transmitted are encoded by the start and time length of the at least one blanking. The sum of the partial bright times within the pulse width modulation cycle substantially corresponds to the bright time according to the specified pulse duty factor.
Abstract: A hollow body composed of an electrically conducting material and extending longitudinally along an axis is connected at one axial end to a connection element composed of an electrically conducting material and extending along the axis. A first thread is provided on the hollow body at the one axial end running about the axis, while a second thread is provided on the connection element running about the axis, so that the second thread is mechanically supported by the first thread. Abstract: A sub-program carried out by a numerical control unit that controls a production machine is disclosed. The numerical control unit transmits a piece of information identifying a program instruction, by means of which the sub-program was generated to a CAM system after the instruction is selected by a user through an operator interface. The numerical control unit receives, a parameterized description of the sequence of program instructions containing the selected program instruction from the CAM system. The numerical control unit outputs the parameterized description to the user via the operator interface and receives a modification of the parameterized description from the user. The numerical control unit then transmits the modified parameterized description to the CAM system and receives a modified sub-program corresponding to the modified parameterized description from the CAM system.
Abstract: A production machine or machine tool has a memory into which a part program incorporating HMI instructions in the form of script segments is loaded, wherein the HMI instructions are evaluated by a processing component during the execution of the part program and wherein a display unit is controlled by the processing component for displaying HMI outputs. Abstract: A method of setting a clearance between a rotor and a stator of a rotor assembly for a turbine engine. The rotor assembly has a plurality of rotor-to-stator stages and the stator has a nominal centreline. Typically the stator is a casing or an array of vane tips. The method includes (i) correlating in-service rotor-to-stator rub patterns for a rotor-to-stator stage of a number of turbine engines, (ii) setting a position of a machining centreline relative to the nominal centreline of the stator, the position being towards a heavy rub, (iii) machining the stator about the machining centreline, (iv) repeating steps (i) to (ii) for each rotor-to-stator stage of the plurality of the rotor-to-stator stages, wherein the machined stator having been formed by at least two machining steps having different centre-lines.

Abstract: To enable improved magnetic resonance imaging in the vicinity of an interference object that produces a magnetic interference field in an examination region, in a method and apparatus for magnetic resonance imaging of the examination region magnetic resonance raw data are acquired from the examination region by execution of a magnetic resonance sequence having multiple repetition intervals and refocusing of spins in the examination region at the end of each repetition interval repetition intervals. During at least part of the duration of the acquisition of the magnetic resonance raw data, a magnetic compensation gradient is activated that is opposed to the magnetic interference field.
Abstract: A heat pump includes an internal heat exchanger and a regulating device designed to bring the temperature of the working fluid at the outlet of a compressor to a specifiable minimum difference above the dew point at the same pressure. This allows the use of novel coolants in heat pumps, e.g., coolants having a low dew line slope of under 1000/kJ in the temperature-entropy diagram and characterized by very good safety and environmental properties.

Abstract: In a method for producing a rotor of an asynchronous electric machine, a carrier shaft is produced with shaft slots and a squirrel cage rotor is applied to the carrier shaft. The carrier shaft and an electrically conductive bulk material of nickeled copper is placed into a container so that the bulk material fills up the shaft slots. The bulk material is compacted in the container by hot isostatic pressing and thereby bonded to the carrier shaft such that nickel as diffusion material causes permanently bonding of copper to the carrier shaft. The container is then detached from the carrier shaft.

The rotor assembly has a rotational axis, at least one rotor, a shaft having an axially extending bore, a tension stud extending axially through the rotor and into the bore for applying an axial load across the rotor and/or shaft. The rotor assembly further has a sleeve located at least partly within the bore and connected to the shaft by a first attachment and to the tension stud by a second attachment, the first attachment is located between the rotor and the second attachment.
Abstract: One embodiment of the invention is disclosed, related to a method for associating at least two different medical findings with each other, each of the findings being based on a characteristic area in a different set of images. The location of at least one anatomical landmark in relation to the respective characteristic area is determined in each in each of the different sets of images. Then a reference to the least one anatomical landmark is stored together with the respective finding for each of the at least two findings. Finally, pairs of associated findings based on a comparison of the respective references to the at least one anatomical landmark are identified among the at least two findings.
