  • Patent number: 5351749
Abstract: An arrangement of apparatus and process thereof for cooling hot fluid solid particles, especially hot regenerated catalytic particles are disclosed. The apparatus comprises a substantially vertical, cylindrical and close ended heat removal vessel through the shell sid passage of which is passed the fluid solid particles that flow downwardly in the form of dense phase fluidized bed, and one or more seperate heat exchange tube units through the tube side passage of which the coolant is passed and evaporized, each of said heat exchange tube units comprising a supply coolant inlet tube, a supply coolant collecting chamber, one or more heat exchange tubes, a vapour collecting chamber and a resulting vapour discharge tube, all of which constitute a close type coolant-to-vapour circulation.

  • Patent number: 5308592
Abstract: Equipment for mixed phase reaction distillation, particularly equipment for mixed phase reaction distillation to produce MTBE. The equipment comprises a rectifying section I at the upper part, a reaction section II at the middle part, and a stripping section III at the lower part. The reaction section II comprises a plurality of superposed catalyst beds which are connected by at least one catalyst flow pipe disposed between each pair of adjacent catalyst beds, and a sealed cover at the top above the uppermost catalyst bed of the plurality of catalyst beds. The reaction section II further comprises at least one vapor passageway disposed at one side of the reaction section II, and at least one liquid passageway disposed at the other side of the reaction section II.

  • Patent number: 5076893
Abstract: The present invention relates to decoking of a residual oil delayed coke reactor. When decoking, the roller of the flexible pipe winch is rotated to cause the flexible pipe to vertically ascend or descend in the coker wherein the high pressure water rotates the turbine blades of the turbine-reductor which brings the drilling and cutting combination unit into rotation so as to drill a through hole in the coke accumulation and then conduct the decoking operation. The drilling and cutting combination unit is equipped with a pressure control unit so that switchover of the drilling and cutting operations can be automatically performed. The present invention eliminates the use of a derrick, resulting in significant savings in time, quantity of steel, capital investment, and equipment required to facilitate the decoking process and enhance decoking efficiency.

  • Patent number: 4980053
Abstract: Various fractions of petroleum, including residual oils and crude oils, are catalytically converted to produce gaseous olefins, especially propylene and butylene, in fluidized or moving bed or transfer line reactors with solid, acidic catalysts in the presence of steam at a temperature of 500.degree. to 650.degree. C. and a pressure of 1.5.times.10.sup.5 Pa to 3.times.10.sup.5 Pa, with a weight space velocity of 0.2 to 20 hr.sup.-1 and catalyst-to-oil ratio of 2 to 12. Spent catalyst is continuously removed from the reactor to a regenerator where the coke is burned off and the hot catalyst is returned to the reactor. In a comparison with conventional catalytic cracking and tubular furnance pyrolysis processes, it is found that the process of the present invention produces more propylene and butylene. The total yield of the process of the present invention is about 40 percent by weight of the feedstock.

  • Patent number: 4757040
Abstract: A class of pillared interlayered clay molecular sieves with large pore size were prepared by cross-linking the regularly interstratified mineral clay. Wherein the cross-linked rectorites possess an extraordinary thermal and hydrothermal stabilities. Said class of pillared interlayered clay molecular sieves are potential commercial catalysts for carbonium-ion type reactions, adsorbents and catalyst carriers.
