  • Patent number: 5031422
Abstract: The invention relates to a circular knitting machine and a method carried out thereon for kniting patterned knitwear with a plurality of yarns. So that it is also possible to make patterns in which any yarns (25) are not worked by a plurality of adjacent needles (12), the floats (26) resulting therefrom are parted from inside the needle circle (10a) and the yarn ends (28) thereby resulting on the side of the associated yarn guide (24) are constantly retained in the capture region of the needles (12) selectable by the selector device for yarn reception. The patterning can thus be effected solely with the aid of the selector devices. Yarn change devices or ring guide bars are not needed (FIG. 2).

  • Patent number: 4905484
Abstract: In a multiple system circular knitting machine having an electromagnetic needle selection, the needle and jack cam races are supported on a stationary support ring which rests on a plurality of radially directed and mutually spaced ribs. To improve operational reliability and maintenance of needle selection devices, each selection electromagnet is mounted at an end portion of an elongated holder and is situated in a circumferential recess in the needle cylinder opposite end portions of respective selecting jacks. The magnet holders are adjustably secured to the lower surface of the support ring. The needle selecting cams include a pair of circumferentially staggered and axially superposed pressing cams of which the leading lower pressing cam first engages the lower end portion of the selecting jack and moves the same radially inwardly to a point where the upper pressing cam takes over and presses an armature surface of the end portion of the jack against an electromagnet.

  • Patent number: 4875347
Abstract: In a knitting machine, a selection latch having two end positions for selecting a knitting-needle is actuated so as to engage a cam which moves the selected latch towards a second end position. The actuation of the selection latch in two stages reduces the displacement brought about by the actuating means and increases the selection frequency. According to the invention the latch is actuated by a thin needle similar to a needle-printer needle, producing an impact on the latch, resulting in transmission of motion with high efficiency and moving the latch into an intermediate position in which the cam brings the latch into its second end position. This substantially eliminates friction between the actuating means and the latch, and enhances the selection frequency.
