  • Patent number: 4412372
Abstract: The present invention is a method for the manufacture of bearing rings ruptured along an arrow-shaped partition line for antifriction bearings or similar devices. According to the invention a radial bore is introduced through the middle of the ring transversely of the bearing axis, and in the opposite end faces are introduced V-shaped notches which are displaced in relation to the radial bore in a circumferential direction. The bearing ring is supported on one end and ruptured first on that end by a force directed against the opposite end. The ring is turned over and again ruptured similarly until an arrow-shaped partition line extends from the radial bore to the notches.

  • Patent number: 4411478
Abstract: A rolling bearing for lengthwise movement along a shaft comprised of an outer sleeve having a plurality of races therein for rolling bearings, a cage being provided to guide the rolling bearings. A sealing ring is provided at each end of the assembly, the sealing ring having lips extending radially inwardly to contact the shaft. The sealing lips are thin and elastically bendable, and are mounted to enable bowing thereof into free spaces on opposite sides thereof, depending upon direction of lengthwise movement of the shaft. As a consequence, for small movements of the shaft, the sealing lips cling to the shaft and become bulged, rather than sliding along the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4399898
Abstract: The present invention is a device for securing a shaft or the like in a hub, wherein an annular groove is provided on the shaft or in the hub to accommodate an elastic securing ring of round cross-section. A shoulder is provided on the hub or shaft radially facing the annular groove and the hub or shaft has an adjusting member displaceable in axial direction with a conical face axially facing the shoulder. This face together with the shoulder forms an annular recess widening towards the opening of the groove. The floor of the annular groove on the side of the adjusting member is at a radial distance from the shaft or hub at least as great as the thickness of the securing ring.

  • Patent number: 4397802
Abstract: A ball bearing adapted for axial movement on a shaft is comprised of a cage having guideways defining endless paths having axially extending portions for loaded and unloaded balls, and semicircular end portions. An outer sleeve surrounds the central portion of the bearing and defines races for balls in the endless paths. End rings on the axial ends of the bearing radially outwardly cover the semicircular quideway portions. The semicircular guideway portions have outwardly convex bottoms, and the end rings have concave recesses in their inner surfaces aligned with the semicircular guideways. The convex portions of the guideways and the concave portions of the recesses have common centers of curvature extending parallel to the bearing axis and displaced outwardly therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4387939
Abstract: A cage for a rolling bearing is formed of a plurality of cage parts. One of the cage parts is comb shaped, having axially extending cross-pieces adapted to be engaged by another cage piece, which may be a ring. Axially extending projections with enlarged ends are provided on the cage ring, at the inner circumference thereof, engaging correspondingly shaped recesses in the other cage part, thereby to enable snapping of the cage parts together. Recesses or projections are provided on the end of each cross-piece of the comb-shaped part, for engaging corresponding projections or recesses in the side ring of the cage, thereby to stabilize the cage in the circumferential and radial directions.

  • Patent number: 4374556
Abstract: In a clutch release bearing assembly for a motor vehicle, the outer ring of a clutch thrust bearing has a flange engaging a radially extending flange of a housing part affixed to a sliding sleeve. This engagement permits play. An elastic ring is held fixed with respect to the outer bearing ring, and has projections extending axially from its internal circumference to engage circular surfaces of recesses of the housing. The circular surfaces of the recesses are joined by straight sections on the housing, whereby the tendency of the sliding sleeve to rotate with respect to the bearing ring effects the radial bending of the tongues, to damp such movement.

  • Patent number: 4352419
Abstract: A self centering clutch thrust bearing has a damping ring between one bearing ring and the sliding sleeve of a housing. The damping ring has resilient projections positioned to engage recesses in the housing with play, to damp small turning motions, and larger projections positioned to engage other recesses in the housing with play, to damp larger turning forces. The resilient projections are mounted to be operative in damping the forces prior to the larger projections. This invention relates to self centering clutch thrust bearings, and more in particular to the provision of damping means in such bearings.
