  • Publication number: 20100060289
Abstract: An easily implemented method of diagnosing both supply path, upstream, and load path, downstream, anomalies such as impedance events in machine or motor circuitry is accomplished by analyzing the across-the-line startup current and voltage time waveforms. No line of sight limitations exist and high accuracy exists. The techniques can be automated estimating poor contact resistance based on the voltage and current variation under a load change condition perhaps such as startup and/or shutdown of the load. Both, upstream and downstream problems from the point of voltage measurement can be monitored analyzing a load change condition. Additionally, downstream problems can be identified by using negative sequence current under steady state operation of the load.

  • Patent number: 7594664
Abstract: A seal assembly having a seal bumper wall with a series of pyramid shaped formations lying on the bumper wall. The formations cause their apex portion to wear down rapidly in use, while the remainder of the pyramids remain and act as slingers and/or produce a convection effect to reduce temperature along the sealed area. In another embodiment, there are two each pyramid shaped formations located on each of several thrust bumpers, which are held in position by a retainer.

  • Publication number: 20080143055
Abstract: An oil seal having the usual lips for retaining oil and a guide member made of a variety of relatively stiff or rigid materials. The guide member is made slightly larger than the smallest diameter of the seal member when the seal rests on the shaft. The seal member can have the guide member on either the air side or the oil side of the seal. The disclosure also relates to a shipping plug, which is inserted into the seal and retains the oil in place during shipping when the seal is installed but a shaft is not installed.

  • Patent number: 7213660
Abstract: A controlled leakage seal assembly having a first stationary portion adapted to be connected in substantially fluid-tight relation to a source of drilling fluid and a second portion adapted to be connected in substantially fluid-tight relation to a rotary portion including a washpipe. The seal includes a first housing and a stack of radially inwardly extending, spaced apart annular stators, and a second seal housing and stack of spaced apart radially outwardly extending annular rotors interleaved with one another. The seal assembly, a cartridge, permits the first and second housings to rotate relative to each other in substantially fluid-tight relation except for the drilling fluid entering an outlet region at greatly reduced pressure. In a preferred embodiment, the seal is held by a sleeve that permits the cartridge to be removed and replaced while the fluid connections to the sleeve remains.
