Patent number: 4345203Abstract: A device for measuring the lubrication of surfaces which roll or slide relative to one another and are lubricated by a lubricant. The device includes an oscillator generating an AC voltage signal whereby the capacitance between the lubricated surface is measured by first grounding the capacitance and then connecting it by way of a condenser to the output of an oscillator. This output is connected further to a first input of a modulating circuit while the voltage occurring across the capacitance is delivered to a second input of the demodulating circuit. The output of the demodulating circuit is connected to a processing unit which derives a signal corresponding to the thickness of the lubricant film as well as the percentage contact time during a certain interval of measurement from the output signal of the demodulating circuit.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 1980Date of Patent: August 17, 1982Assignee: SKF Industrial Trading & Development Company, B.V.Inventors: Karel N. Patent number: 4345333Abstract: The invention concerns a method and an apparatus for replacing the electrodes of an electric arc furnace.Replacement of the electrodes in an electric arc furnace with an electrode roof (9) removable from the furnace shell takes place by moving the electrodes downwards and upwards through the electrode roof when removed from the furnace shell, in connection with removing and inserting the electrodes from and into their holders (13), respectively. An apparatus with a number of vertical tubes which can be placed below the removed electrode roof is arranged beside the furnace shell. Used electrodes can be lowered into some of the tubes and jointed replacement electrodes can be pushed up through the electrode roof from other tubes. The tubes are placed on a revolving disc (2) for alternating placing below the electrode positions in the roof. By means of the invention replacement of the electrodes can take place without any personnel having to stay above the electrode roof.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 1980Date of Patent: August 17, 1982Assignee: Aktiebolaget SKFInventor: Magnus G. Patent number: 4343055Abstract: The invention refers to a device for supporting a first member which is rotatable about a mainly vertical axis on a second member. The invention is primarily intended to be used for supporting very large members, which carry very heavy loads. The device incorporates two race tracks and a plurality of rollers cooperating therewith. In order to avoid sliding movements in the contact between roller and race track at varying loads and for achieving an even load distribution on all rollers, the rollers at least of one of the rows of rollers are resiliently suspended in support members, which are adjusted thus that the rollers will engage their associated race track under preload. The rollers and/or the race tracks may be cambered or the support members may be displaceable in the longitudinal direction of the rollers and contact the adjacent elements via arc-formed supporting surfaces for achieving a pure rolling movement in the contact between roller and race track due to race track movements.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 1979Date of Patent: August 10, 1982Assignee: Aktiebolaget SKFInventor: Gunnar Bergling
