    Abstract: A bearing assembly rotatably supporting a shaft journal having a gear wheel at one end in a cylindrical seat in a housing comprising a one-piece outer ring having threads on its outer periphery cooperating with threads in the cylindrical seat. A plurality of circumferentially spaced openings are provided in the outer axial end face of the outer ring to accommodate a turning tool having projections corresponding to the openings to permit axial adjusting movement of the bearing assembly relative to the housing. The bearing assembly further includes an inner race ring on the shaft journal, two rows of rolling elements in the annular space between the rings spaced closely relative to one another. One of the rows comprises rollers having axes inclined at an angle to the bearing axis disposed adjacent the gear wheel and the other row comprises balls which roll against raceways in the rings to provide angular contact which are disposed at the opposite end of the shaft journal.

One end surface (8) of the ring is covered by a flock of fibres (10). The free ends of the fibres contact one of the groove walls.     Abstract: A conveyor belt roll assembly comprising a roll casing, a roll end mounted at opposite axial ends of the roll casing and a rolling bearing with a first bearing ring supported in the roll end and a second bearing ring secured in an axial direction by means of a ring member connected to the shaft. The roll end has a radially outwardly directed flange with corrugations at its outer edge extending in a peripheral direction and the ring member axially securing the bearing on the shaft is arranged outside of the bearing.     Abstract: In a clutch release device, a clutch release lever engages one ring of a clutch release bearing, and the bearing ring and release lever are formed to inhibit relative rotation therebetween. For this purpose, the bearing ring may have a polygonal outer surface, in which case the release lever may have parallel flanges between which opposite parallel surfaces of the polygonal section of the bearing ring may be inserted. Alternatively, the release lever may have a wedge shaped portion adapted to engage a braking surface of the bearing ring, formed of a plastic material. In a further modification, the bearing rings have grooves or corrugations in a radially extending surface and adapted to be engaged by one or more projections on the clutch release lever.

    Abstract: Apparatus for screwing, unscrewing, and handling large bolts such as stud bolts for the cover of the core tank of a nuclear reactor. A circular guide rail is positioned above the periphery of the core tank. A main chassis is suspended from and movable along the guide rail. The main chassis includes two vertical beams and a plurality of horizontal guide beams which extend over the core tank periphery toward the interior thereof. A secondary chassis includes a number of bars which cooperate with the guide beams to permit horizontal movement of the secondary chassis in a direction substantially perpendicular to the direction of movement of the main chassis. A screwing mechanism is vertically movable on the secondary chassis and includes a gripping device for gripping the screw and a jack for compensating for the weight of the screw. A second gripping device can be included for gripping a washer.

    Abstract: Apparatus for determining the properties of lubricants which is of comparatively simplified construction and is capable of analyzing the properties of a lubricant in a relatively short period of time with a relatively small quantity of lubricant in a highly accurate manner. The apparatus comprises an axial cylindrical roller bearing supported on the frame of the apparatus by a hydrostatic cushion. The apparatus includes a disc member which supports the housing disc of the axial cylindrical roller bearing which is engaged by a leaf spring equipped with a resistant strain gauge for measuring the moment of friction. A bell-shaped top lies on the spindle disc of the axial cylindrical roller bearing and is rotated by motor with an infinitely variable drive to which a tachometer is connected by a distance gauge arranged between the disc member and the bell-shaped top which measures a change in the distance of the contact surface of the axial cylindrical roller bearings and consequently the lubricant film thickness.
