Abstract: The invention provides DivIB polypeptides and DNA (RNA) encoding such DivIB, particularly those of S. aureus, and a procedure for producing such polypeptides by recombinant techniques. Also provided are methods for utilizing such DivIB for the treatment of infection, to screen for antagonists against such DivIB, diagnostic assays for detecting disease.
Abstract: A monoclonal antibody (Mab), or a fragment thereof, that binds to one or more epitopes of a matrix binding protein and an isolated D1-D4 polypeptide (SEQ ID NO. 6, 7, and 8) from a Staphylococcus aureus Fbp and their use in the prevention of adhesion of bacteria, in particular gram positive bacteria, to extracellular matrix proteins on in-dwelling devices or to matrix proteins in wounds.
