Abstract: A reinforced bulk bin, and methods for making same, wherein a collapsible bulk bin, preferably fabricated from paper, paperboard and/or corrugated paperboard, is provided with a reinforcing plastic sleeve, which is placed on the bin while in its collapsed configuration. When in place, and prior to the bin being deployed, the sleeve is under tension. When the bin is deployed, the sleeve exerts restraining force, distributed over the surfaces of the side walls of the bin. The sleeve may be positioned on the collapsed bin either manually or mechanically.

Abstract: Shipping containers that are convertible to display containers are disclosed. The containers comprise wrap around outer shells of the general type known as “Bliss” wraps, in combination with interior vertical support structures. The invention presents improved two- and three-piece container constructions, having improved side-to-end panel connections for improved tray strength upon conversion to a display configuration, as well as a variety of interior divider/support options. By advantageous adhesive application together with specialized opening structures such as tear strips, lines of weakness and/or hand holes, various different conversion configurations are provided.

Abstract: A bag-in-box beverage container and dispenser is provided, incorporating an outer box fabricated preferably from corrugated paperboard material, and an inner liquid containing bag, fabricated from a suitable material. The outer box has two pairs of opposing side panels, and at least one diagonal corner panel. One of the side panels has an openable structure for permitting access to the interior of the box, to enable a consumer to grasp and withdraw the dispensing fixture of the inner liquid containing bag, and capture it within the openable structure. In embodiments having more than one diagonal corner panel, at least one of the diagonal corner panels is larger than at least one of the other diagonal corner panels, to permit the container to be tipped onto that elongated diagonal corner panel, for facilitated dispensing of the liquid contained in the inner bag.

Abstract: A bag-in-box beverage container and dispenser is provided, incorporating an outer shell fabricated preferably from corrugated paperboard material, and an inner liquid containing bag, fabricated from a suitable material. The carton includes ready assembly features, as well as an internal ramp structure for prompting flow of liquid toward the dispensing device of the bag and the dispensing aperture of the outer shell. A recessed handle structure is also provided, as are alternative embodiments of the internal ramp structure.

Abstract: Display packaging constructions incorporating a plastic blister cavity, sandwiched between layers of paperboard material, preferably corrugated paperboard material, are disclosed. Variations of the basic construction include a high-density packaging configuration, display packages having security features for precluding unauthorized access to the interior of the display package, and a reclosable construction to enable the display package to be used as a storage container. When corrugated paperboard is used for the layers, the corrugations may be arranged to extend transversely to one another, to resist warping caused during the heat sealing process. A plastic blister construction is provided, having a forward stabilizing foot, and a rear concavity, for receiving a similar foot from a like blister, for facilitated nested packing together of pluralities of such blisters.

Abstract: Wraparound style packaging and shipping containers are provided, having structures configured for facilitating the conversion of the shipping containers into dispensing or all-around display containers. The shipping containers are preferably fabricated from an outer blank having a centrally positioned bottom wall, with front and rear walls emanating from front and rear edges of the bottom wall, respectively. Inner reinforcement panels may be provided for one or more of the end panels. The containers may incorporate lids formed from separate blanks, or lids formed from integral top panels of the wraparound blanks. Side flaps emanate from the bottom wall, the front and rear walls, and the top panels (if present), to provide at least partial coverage of the sides of the container.

Abstract: A collapsible cooking container formed from a generally, rectangularly shaped paperboard blank folded along crease lines so as to have a bottom portion, a first side portion, a top portion, and a second side portion wherein the top portion and the first side portion are adapted to be attached to form a cube having opposed, open sides. The opposed, open sides are substantially covered when the collapsible cooking container is in an expanded condition by segments provided to the bottom portion, first and second side portions, and top portion that cooperate to form first and second collapsible sides.

Abstract: A point of purchase display for the containment and presentation of products, incorporating one or more cartridges for holding the products, the one or more cartridges being operably supported by a brace member within a shell. The shell, brace and cartridge(s) are all preferably fabricated from corrugated paperboard material. In an alternative embodiment of the invention, a plurality of assembled displays is modularly connected to provide an integrated display unit.

Abstract: A passive interlock structure for use in containers (such as cartons and trays), particularly those fabricated from corrugated paperboard and the like, which permits the facilitated aligning of vertically stacked containers. The passive interlock structure feature includes recesses formed in the tops or bottoms of the containers, and corresponding complementary low planar projections in the bottoms or tops of the containers.

Abstract: A receptacle for a tray display for point-of-purchase display of articles for vending, is provided with an outer shell, and an article enclosing tray positioned against a back side of a front wall of the outer shell. Access to the articles is provided through an aperture in the front wall.

Abstract: A plastic valve bag construction is provided having structure enabling positive closure of the outer opening of the valve, once filling of the bag has been completed. Closure is provided by the placement of adhesive on one or more regions adjacent the outer opening of the valve which one or more regions of adhesive are covered by a removable shield. A method for making such plastic valve bags is also disclosed.

Abstract: A container for the shipping and display of goods includes a box formed from a first blank. The box includes a front panel having upper and lower flaps, a first side panel having upper and lower flaps, a second side panel having upper and lower flaps, and a rear panel having upper and lower flaps. A breakaway panel defined by a first line of weakness is formed within a portion of one or more of the aforesaid panels. A breakaway assist panel is formed from a distinct, separate second blank. The breakaway assist panel is adhered to the breakaway panel to facilitate separation of the breakaway panel from the box, by first pulling on the breakaway assist panel to rupture the first line of weakness and then removing the joined breakaway panel and breakaway assist panel.

Abstract: A substantially paperboard container for releasably dispensing contents contained therein is convertible from a substantially sealed orientation to a substantially open, dispensing orientation and back to the substantially sealed orientation. The paperboard container comprises a tubular container member, a bottom member and a top member, with the top member being telescopically received within the container member to seal the top member to the container. The top member is pivotable about the hinge portion and is pivotable to the sealed orientation to substantially reseal the container member. The lid is fabricated in whole or in part, from plastic material.

Abstract: An open-topped, open-fronted tray for displaying articles for purchase is provided with a reinforced, drop-down flap for bearing advertising or product information indicia or the like. The drop-down flap has an exposed outer surface, which is contiguous with the remaining outer surfaces of the tray, so that only one side of the flat blank, prior to articulation, needs to be printed or otherwise have indicia applied thereto. A blank for forming the point of purchase display tray, and a method for employing the point of purchase display tray, are also disclosed.
