Patents Assigned to Societe Alsacienne de Constructions Mecaniques de Mulhouse
  • Patent number: 4641613
Abstract: The invention relates to the diesel engine industry. To heat the air contained in the cylinder up to the fuel ignition temperature, the piston is made to execute several successive compression/expansion cycles with the inlet valve and exhaust valve closed and with fuel injection cut off. During starting and under low load, the engine operates according to a cycle of more than four strokes, for example six, eight or ten strokes. An improvement in the conditions of starting and low-load running, especially for supercharged diesel engines of reduced compression ratio.

  • Patent number: 4452282
Abstract: In a weaving loom, the harness frames are coupled by means of two link-arms to rockers which are actuated by the shedding mechanism. The head of each link-arm is provided with a recess in which is inserted a stub-shaft carried by each harness frame, the stub-shaft shaft being held in position by means of a spring carried by the link-arm head. High-speed looms can thus be equipped with lightweight frames of smaller thickness which can be mounted with greater ease.

  • Patent number: 4445545
Abstract: The fabric produced by a loom is wound on a drum which is driven in rotation from the fabric take-up roller by means of a friction coupling, the friction being adjustable by means of a regulating nut. A tensioning roller which is capable of displacement under the action of the tension of the fabric actuates a pawl by means of a mechanism comprising two elbowed levers and a connecting-rod. The pawl is capable of engaging in teeth carried by the regulating nut in order to lock the nut in position and tighten-up the friction coupling when the tension of the fabric decreases.

  • Patent number: 4280251
Abstract: A uniform web of fiber tufts is delivered to a textile fiber processing machine such as a carding machine by a feed chimney provided with a perforated wall. The fiber tufts are impelled into the upper portion of the chimney by means of a fan, a uniform web of fibers being discharged between rollers at the lower end of the chimney. The level of tufts within the chimney is maintained constant and under constant pressure by a regulating valve and a two-position reversing valve. The reversing valve serves to put the suction side of the fan into communication either with a tuft storage area or with the atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 4244170
Abstract: Each spinning ring of a ring-frame spinning device is carried by a fluid bearing supplied with compressed air for centering and lifting the ring. The flow of compressed air is selectively interrupted or at least reduced by means of an automatic or hand-operated valve or cock in order to reduce or suppress the ring-lifting action. A braking action is thus produced on the ring as it is brought into frictional contact with a top horizontal radial surface of a ring carrier or stator. The braking action can be applied selectively to one or a number or all the rings of any ring spinning frame employed in the textile industry.

  • Patent number: 4238920
Abstract: Each revolving ring of a continuous-spinning frame for textile yarn is mounted on a fluid bearing and driven in rotation by a ring traveler. The resisting torque of the ring is intentionally increased by means of hollow or projecting portions such as fins formed on the ring in order to produce a difference in speed between the normal speed of rotation of the spindle and the speed of rotation of the ring. The result thereby achieved is to ensure uniform tension of the yarn and to improve operating stability of the spinning frame.
