Abstract: A system and method for suppressing radio frequency (“RF”) transmissions includes a transmitter for transmitting electronic signals that suppresses (e.g., prevents, disrupts, jams, interferes with or otherwise disables) RF transmissions. Some embodiments of the invention include a transmitter that suppresses one or more signals transmitted from a target transmitter in an RF transmission system to a target receiver in a wireless device operating in the RF transmission system to prevent, disrupt, jam, interfere with or otherwise disable an RF transmission between the target transmitter and the target receiver in the wireless device (i.e., target wireless device). These systems and methods may be used to interrupt communication, command and control of non-friendly combatant. These systems and methods may also be used to suppress RF transmissions to prevent the detonation of improvised explosive devices, or IEDs.

Abstract: A measurement system and method for determining a depth of penetration of a working portion of a surgical instrument (e.g., a rotating drill bit in a bore). A first sensor outputs a first signal representative of a displacement of the leading edge of the drill bit in the bore. A second sensor outputs a second signal representative of a force applied to the leading edge of the drill bit. A processor outputs a third signal representative of the depth of penetration of the leading edge of the drill bit when the leading edge of the drill bit passes from a first medium having a first density to a second medium having a second density. The third signal is based on the first and second signals.

Abstract: In one example, a method includes receiving, by a computing device, data for a region of interest that includes growing crops. The received data for the region of interest can include image data for the region of interest. The method further includes identifying, by the computing device based on the received image data, rows of crops within the region of interest. The method further includes determining, by the computing device based on the received data for the region of interest associated with portions of the region of interest included in the identified rows of crops and excluding portions of the region of interest outside the identified rows of crops, a stand status of the growing crops within the region of interest. The stand status includes a quantity status corresponding to a population of crops within the region of interest.

Abstract: Lithium-iron molecular precursor compounds, compositions and processes for making a cathode for lithium ion batteries. The molecular precursor compounds are soluble and provide processes to make stoichiometric cathode materials with solution-based processes. The cathode material can be, for example, a lithium iron oxide, a lithium iron phosphate, or a lithium iron silicate. Cathodes can be made as bulk material in a solid form or in solution, or in various forms including thin films.

Abstract: Fastener devices and methods are disclosed that may be provided in combination with attachments, retainer elements and peg board systems that are mounted to the surface of a wall or framing construction. The fastener devices and methods may be used or performed in combination with storage elements, as in traditional peg board hooks, clasps, hangers or rings, with fastener elements, as in screws, bolts, and nails, and retained elements generally, such as materials, tools, and other implements. The fastener device and method may correspond to at least one aperture and in some embodiments a plurality of apertures, each aperture extending from a first to a second surface of the fastener device and having configurations unique of the present invention.
Abstract: A system and method is provided that allows a sender of a mail object to generate a barcode that uniquely identifies the mail object, where the barcode includes a sender-generated unique identifier concatenated with mail-related data (e.g., sender data, recipient data, shipping method data, etc.), rendering the barcode globally unique. The barcode can then be used by a sender-based system to provide data concerning the mail object via a network. In one embodiment of the present invention, barcode data (or a portion thereof) is stored in a sender's memory device and linked to information concerning the mail object. The barcode data can then be used to identify the mail object and provide information concerning the mail object over a network, such as the Internet.
Abstract: An alert system includes a computer system and several transmitting devices wirelessly connected to the computer system such that operation of a switch on any one of the transmitting devices transmits a signal to the computer system. There is at least one video camera coupled to the computer system. Software running on the computer system initiates capture of video from at least one of the video cameras responsive to detecting receipt of the signal from the any one of the transmitting devices.
Abstract: A modular tooling apparatus providing orbital adjustment of a modular tool. The modular tooling apparatus includes a base coupling, a first linkage member, and a second linkage member. The base coupling is connectible to a manipulator. The first linkage member is adjustably connected to the base coupling for rotational adjustment about a first axis. The second linkage member is adjustably connected to the first linkage member for rotational adjustment about a second axis. The rotational adjustment of the first linkage member about the first axis and the rotational adjustment of the second linkage member about the second axis combine to provide more orbital positions than the rotational adjustment of the first linkage member about the first axis or the rotational adjustment of the second linkage member about the second axis.

The light hydrocarbon stream is separated into a carbon dioxide-rich stream and a carbon dioxide-lean stream. At least a portion of the carbon dioxide-lean stream is fed to a hydrocarbon sweetening process. Another method comprises receiving a hydrocarbon feed stream that comprises 30 molar percent to 80 molar percent carbon dioxide. A heavy hydrocarbon stream is separated from the hydrocarbon feed stream, wherein the heavy hydrocarbon stream comprises at least 90 molar percent C3+ hydrocarbons. A carbon dioxide-rich stream is separated from the hydrocarbon feed stream, wherein the carbon dioxide-rich stream comprises at least 95 molar percent carbon dioxide.
