Abstract: A method of identifying a change in the health of a nerve during a surgical procedure includes determining a sensitivity of the nerve at a first time, determining a sensitivity of the nerve at a second time, and providing an indication to a user corresponding to a change in the sensitivity of the nerve from the first time to the second time. In each instance, the sensitivity of the nerve is determined by providing an electrical stimulus via an electrode disposed on a distal end portion of an elongate medical instrument, and monitoring a magnitude of a mechanical response of a muscle innervated by the nerve.
Abstract: The present invention concerns generally with client lifecycle exchange management, and, more particularly, with a method, a computer system, and a computer-implemented algorithm for managing and coordinating events in the asset management industry that relate to the acquisition and retention of clients and their portfolios, as well as the management of those events that relate to changes in on-going client contracts, including terminations of said contracts at the appropriate time, real-time collaborations between various functional areas of the organization.
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for managing assets in a manufacturing environment. The use of a time-based approach for determining costs of using individual resources in such an environment allows for the generation of detailed reports on assets, liabilities, equity, income and expenses (cost), and cash flows of a business. In addition, the time-based approach can be used in conjunction with transactional processing management systems to perform a variety of tasks such as tracking resources, filling orders, and operating a factory.

Abstract: System and methods are disclosed that attempt to verify data related to a parcel against mapping and addressing data. If the data cannot be verified, then an enhanced normalization process may be performed. The enhanced normalization process may attempt to group the parcel with some other parcels based on parcel characteristics. If the grouping is successful, then normalization may be performed on the grouping. Normalization may involve checking whether the grouping satisfies a set of grouping criteria.

Abstract: Apparatus and associated methods for a wound valve assembly provide an annular space extending radially around a central portion of a valve, which valve acts to substantially relieve pressure build up in a thoracic cavity when applied to a thoracic wound. In an illustrative example, the valve assembly may form an annular space that extends radially in all directions around a check valve. In some examples, gasses and exudates may flow substantially radially and/or parallel to the patient's local body. Various embodiments may advantageously provide open fluid communication for the gasses and exudates escaping from the wound when the valve assembly is partially covered (e.g., body armor, clothing, blankets), or when the patient may be lying down on the side of the body with the wound, for example.

Abstract: A rotational resistance system is described herein, the system being adapted for a user so as to facilitate exercise of muscles throughout upper and lower extremities of the user's body. The system may include a pair of separate rotational resistance devices in side-by-side relation for placement of a corresponding hand or foot of a user thereon. Each device may further include a base adapted for placement on a floor or planar surface, a hollow foot support structure on the base, a top surface of which is inclined at an upward angle relative to horizontal as taken from the rear of the foot support structure to the front of the foot support structure, and a rotatable foot plate contained in and serving as part of the top surface of the foot support structure, the foot plate connected to a means for providing resistance and release of resistance.
Abstract: A system and a method for forming oxygenates from a non-catalytic reaction. A hydrocarbon gas and an oxygen-containing gas are fed into a mixer and then heated to form a reactant gas stream. The reactant gas stream is fed into a fluidized bed reactor where the reaction of the gases occurs by oxidization to produce oxygenates. The oxygenate products are then removed from the reactor.
Abstract: A radiation imaging system includes a casing and a camera disposed inside the casing. A first field of view through the casing exposes the camera to light from outside of the casing. An image plate is disposed inside the casing, and a second field of view through the casing to the image plate exposes the image plate to high-energy particles produced by a radioisotope outside of the casing. An optical reflector that is substantially transparent to the high-energy particles produced by the radioisotope is disposed with respect to the camera and the image plate to reflect light to the camera and to allow the high-energy particles produced by the radioisotope to pass through the optical reflector to the image plate.

Abstract: An instrument for assaying radiation includes a flat panel detector having a first side opposed to a second side. A collimated aperture covers at least a portion of the first side of the flat panel detector. At least one of a display screen or a radiation shield may cover at least a portion of the second side of the flat panel detector.
Abstract: The present embodiments provide methods and systems for use in generating, organizing, and/or playing back multimedia content. Some embodiments provide methods for use in organizing source content by accessing a plurality of media content having parameter data associated with each of the media content, identifying a first organizational style, identifying a first parameter data according to the first organizational style, analyzing the parameter data of each of the plurality of media content relative to the first parameter data, organizing the plurality of media content as the parameter data for each of the plurality of media content relates to the identified first parameter data according to the first organizational style, and generating an output content incorporating the plurality of media content as organized according to the first organizational style.

Abstract: A digital Radio Frequency (RF) receiver may exhibit image frequencies and these image frequencies may be mathematically related to the intermediate frequency (IF) that is utilized for transmission and reception. In accordance with an embodiment, channel switching may be performed to identify an appropriate receive frequency in the presence of image frequencies on other channels. In accordance with another embodiment, data on a receive channel is evaluated to determine whether the data is inverted, and then appropriate correction may be performed on subsequently received data.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods for determining the redox condition of cementitious materials. The methods are leaching methods that utilize a redox active transition metal indicator that is present in the cementitious material and exhibits variable solubility depending upon the oxidation state of the indicator. When the leaching process is carried out under anaerobic conditions, the presence or absence of the indicator in the leachate can be utilized to determine the redox condition of and location of the oxidation front in the material that has been subjected to the leaching process.
