Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a main body, a feeder, and a relay device. The main body forms an image on a sheet. The feeder feeds the sheet toward the main body. The relay device connects the main body to the feeder. The main body is placed on a placement surface. The feeder is arranged opposite to the main body with the relay device therebetween in a direction along the placement surface. The relay device includes a conveyance unit and a casing which houses the conveyance unit. The conveyance unit conveys the sheet fed from the feeder to the main body and rotates relative to the casing with an axis as a pivot thereof. The axis extends in a cross direction intersecting with the placement surface.

Abstract: A speaker retrieval device includes a first converting unit, a receiving unit, and a searching unit. The first converting unit converts, using an inverse transform model of a first conversion model for converting score vectors representing the features of voice quality into acoustic models, pre-registered acoustic models into score vectors; and registers the score vectors in a corresponding manner to a speaker identifier in score management information. The receiving unit receives input of a score vector. The searching unit searches the score management information for the speaker identifiers whose score vectors are similar to the received score vector.

Abstract: A system and process for generalizing an evolutionary process applied to a particular domain involving different problems includes a researcher module for generating a configuration specification applicable to a particular problem. An evolution module parses the configuration specification into a representative tree structure, assembles policies for each node in the tree structure, and generates candidate genomes using the policies for each node in the tree structure. The policies may be applied to new data or data from prior runs to generate candidate genomes. The evolution module translates internal representations of the generated candidate genomes into known representations of the candidate genome for evaluation in accordance with the particular domain parameters by a candidate evaluation module.

Abstract: A knowledge data management system (KDMS) implements data refinement orchestration, resolution, and refinement to provide a reusable and generic solution to ingest and link data via relationships and properties when constructing a knowledge graph. The KDMS thus operates to break down existing data storage silos by normalizing and integrating data with a uniform semantic schema, which results in more accurate and faster knowledge graph construction.

Abstract: A medical image processing device includes a motion amount calculating unit configured to compare a first image obtained by capturing a subject image taken by an endoscope with a second image obtained by capturing the subject image at a chronologically different timing from the first image and calculate a motion amount for the second image every two or more areas in the first image; and an area specifying unit configured to specify a mask area other than the subject image included in the first image from an inside of a mask candidate area in which the motion amount is equal to or less than a specific first threshold value in the first image.

An EEPROM stores counter information and setting information, a first RAM and a second RAM store counter information and setting information, a memory management unit manages a storage area in the first RAM for the counter information and setting information so as to be updatable and manages a storage area in the second RAM for the counter information and setting information so as not to be updatable, and a system control unit, when a change in contents of the counter information and the setting information occurs, rewrites the counter information and the setting information in the first RAM in accordance to the changed contents, and when the power is turned OFF, reads and compares the counter information and the setting information in the first RAM with the counter information and the setting information in the second RAM, and writes only different data to the EEPROM.

Abstract: In a method for detecting an ejection abnormality of a nozzle according to the present disclosure, a plurality of nozzles of a liquid ejection head are caused to execute an operation of ejecting liquids so that a nozzle check pattern including check areas each drawn solely by each of the plurality of nozzles and a solid pattern including a solid printed area are formed on part of a sheet. A first density value indicating a density value of a ground color of the sheet and a second density value indicating a density value of the solid pattern are acquired. A threshold value for detecting an ejection abnormality of each of the plurality of nozzles is derived from the first density value and the second density value. It is determined, using the threshold value, whether or not each of the check areas of the nozzle check pattern is drawn.

The voter may distribute committed tokens to multiple answers. In some cases, the distribution of the committed tokens to multiple answers may frustrate attempts to determine the one or more targets to which the voter delivers a non-null vote-value.

Abstract: Rapid quantitative evaluations of heart function are carried out with strain measurements from Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) images using a circuit at least partially onboard or in communication with an MRI Scanner and in communication with the at least one display, the circuit including at least one processor that: obtains a plurality of series of MRI images of long and short axis planes of a heart of a patient, with each series of the MRI images is taken over a different single beat of the heart of the patient during an image session that is five minutes or less of active scan time and with the patient in a bore of the MRI Scanner; measures strain of myocardial heart tissue of the heart of the patient based on the plurality of series of MRI images of the heart of the patient; and generates longitudinal and circumferential heart models with a plurality of adjacent compartments, wherein the compartments are color-coded based on the measured strain.

Abstract: An oven appliance and method of operation are provided herein. The oven appliance may include a cabinet defining an oven cavity, a heat source disposed within the oven cavity, an acoustic wave reader, a surface acoustic wave (SAW) temperature sensor receivable within the oven cavity, and a controller in operable communication with the acoustic wave reader. The controller may be configured to initiate a sensor protection sequence. The sensor protection sequence may include initiating a preset oven cycle of the heat source, and monitoring the oven cavity for a condition signal in response to the initiated oven cycle. The sensor protection sequence may further include determining a state of the SAW temperature sensor based on the monitoring, and halting the preset oven cycle based on a determined cavity-enclosed state of the SAW temperature sensor within the oven cavity.

The program instructions are executable by a baseboard management controller (BMC) to receive a request to install a hardware component in a compute node, identify a current hardware configuration of the compute node, and identify a plurality of available locations within the compute node for installation of the requested component. Still further, the BMC may identify, for each available location, a historical performance database record that includes a performance score for a component installed in the same location as the available location, has the same component type as the requested component, and was collected from a compute node having the same hardware configuration as the current compute node. The BMC may select an available location that has the greatest performance score for the component, and generate output indicating the selected location for installation.
