  • Patent number: 10546168
Abstract: A device receives, from a tag reader device of a plurality of tag readers, information associated with a scan of a tag, where each of the plurality of tag readers is configured to read a different type of tag. The device determines, based on the information associated with the scan, a tag reader type associated with the tag reader device, where the plurality of tag readers is associated with a corresponding plurality of tag reader types. The device includes a plurality of parsers associated with the plurality of tag reader types, and identifies a parser, included in the device, associated with the tag reader type associated with the tag reader device. The device determines, using the parser, a tag identifier based on the information associated with the scan. Based on determining that the tag identifier is valid, the device transmits the information associated with the scan to a server.

  • Patent number: 10548041
Abstract: In an embodiment, to reduce uplink reporting, a user equipment (UE) keeps a count of the number of uplink protocol data control packet (PDCP) service data units (SDUs) in a measurement period and a number of those uplink PDCP SDUs that either exceeded a configured delay threshold or were discarded without being sent. These numbers are processed by the UE into a single reporting metric which the UE reports to the network for example in a MDT measurement report. The network configures the delay threshold, which may be specific for a given QoS, and may also configure the measurement period.

  • Patent number: 10543376
Abstract: Several defibrillators, defibrillator architectures, defibrillator components and methods of operating defibrillators are described. In one aspect, a defibrillator (as for example an automated external defibrillator) that can be powered by a mobile communication device such as a smart cellular phone or a tablet computer is described. Utilizing a phone (or other mobile communication device) as the power supply for an external defibrillator allows the external defibrillator to be smaller and, in some circumstance, removes the need for a battery that stores sufficient energy for shock delivery—which would need to be checked and/or replaced on a regular basis. Additionally, when desired, certain control functionality, computation, data processing, and user instructions can be handled/presented by the mobile communications device thereby further simplifying the defibrillator design and improving the user experience.

  • Patent number: 10547758
Abstract: A platen assembly in an image-forming device is designed to assist visually impaired users in situating a document into the home corner of the platen. The platen assembly has a pair of placement-assisting thermal strips disposed extending along intersecting sides of the platen. A temperature gradient is established in the thermal strips, by a warming source provided at common ends of the thermal strips, by the thermal strips being an electrical-resistance heating material and a cooling structure or device being provided at common ends of the strips, or by the thermal strips substantially consisting of a thermoelectric material. To further assist a user in situating a document on the platen, the assembly may feature a raised edge extending from the home corner of the platen, along where the pair of placement-assisting thermal strips meet, as well as Braille written strategically on the thermal strips to direct toward the document-orienting corner.

  • Patent number: 10547470
Abstract: A network communications component may be configured to self-lock at a signaled transmission rate. The network communications component may receive a first transmission rate signal indicating a first transmission rate. It may be determined that a transmission rate for the network communications component is unset on the network communications component. Determining that the transmission rate for the network communications component is unset may include accessing an entry for the transmission rate in a vital product data stored on the network communications component. The transmission rate for the network communications component may be set by storing an indication of the received first transmission rate in a memory location on the network communications component. Data transmission by the network communications component may be limited, in accordance with the stored indication of the first transmission rate, to not exceed the set transmission rate.

  • Patent number: 10545112
Abstract: A method of analyzing a molecule is disclosed. A voltage source is selectively connected to or disconnected from a capacitor using a switch controlled by a reset signal. A charge is stored in a capacitor when the voltage source is connected to the capacitor. The capacitor is discharged through a nanopore in a membrane when the voltage source is disconnected from the capacitor. A duty cycle of the reset signal is determined such that the voltage source and the capacitor is connected for at least a one tenth portion of a reset signal period and disconnected for a remaining portion of the reset signal period, such that a voltage across the nanopore is maintained at a higher level during the portion of the reset signal period in which the connection is maintained than during the remaining portion of the reset signal period in which the connection is not maintained.
