  • Patent number: 6591469
Abstract: A special purpose tool for manual installation and removal of bushings or sleeve bearings from press fit bearing housings within automotive engines, transmissions, and other machinery with no resultant damage to the housing is disclosed. The present tool is comprised of a cylindrical body member including a pilot diameter, which aligns the tool in coaxial relation to the bushing and a bushing locating journal that engages the bushing to be removed. A plurality of machine screws are disposed in the body member at predetermined radial positions. To remove a bushing the machine screws are advanced axially within threaded holes such that the machine screw threads tap into and capture the worn bushing and/or bearing sleeve and the tool is withdrawn. The present tool is also utilized to manually install new bushings into housings and other components by removal of the aforementioned machine screws.

  • Patent number: 6588766
Abstract: A novel gasket is provided for filling the space between two mating surfaces on components in an automotive transmission. The gasket includes one or more patches of silicone integrated into a portion of the gasket for providing one or more channels through the gasket, having leak proof seals at the ends of the channel. Bolt passage holes are spaced in the gasket to register with corresponding bolt holes in the mating surfaces. A channel aperture passes through the portion of the gasket augmented with the silicone patch, providing a channel between the mating surfaces. The ends of the channel define leak proof seals between the gasket and the mating surfaces for providing a leak proof fluid flow channel between the mating surfaces.

  • Patent number: 6585002
Abstract: The present invention relates to automatic transmissions of land motor vehicles. Specifically, the present invention relates to pressure regulation in the system of automatic transmissions of land motor vehicles. The present invention is a pressure regulator valve that limits TV pressure. This valve is meant to replace the original equipment valve in the same casing the said original valve sat. The pressure regulator valve is slightly oversized and the kit has an o-ring equipped end plug to more positively seal the valve bore and prevent pressure loss, known in the industry as EPC/TV pressure. Furthermore, the valve has annular grooves added to prevent side loading by properly centering the valve in a bore. The pressure regulator valve comprises a steel ball and a spring combination with a gel like substance being added to prevent high wear and tear of the entire valve.

  • Patent number: 5944627
Abstract: A replacement mechanism or servo assembly for applying a band to an input member of an automatic transmission includes a housing in which an apply piston is located and to which an apply pin is connected. The piston is sealably movable in the housing and includes a major piston member having a first distal reaction face and a minor piston member integral with the major piston and having a second distal reaction face. A pressure fluid distribution device applies a working fluid against both of the first distal reaction face and the second distal reaction face in order to move the piston with the resultant force of the pressures on both reaction faces and to cause the apply pin to move toward the band to compress the band about the input member with this resultant force. In a preferred embodiment, the housing further includes a pressure separator immovably disposed between the first distal reaction face and an adjacent second proximal face of the minor piston member.
