Cooling layers within the product compartment are located below and above the products. Vertical posts disposed between the side panels and the payload and between the end panels and the payload create spaces and channels for convective air movement.
Abstract: A shipping base for use with an appliance or other large product is provided. The base includes locator pins for removably securing the base to the appliance via a friction fit. The locator pins are captured by and extend upwardly from a folded corrugated member to frictionally engage the appliance. The locator pins preferably have a conical upper portion to help guide the pins into footholes or other openings in the bottom of the appliance.
Abstract: In insert is provided for use with a container and for positioning in the container opening. The insert includes a body having an outer periphery dimensioned for receipt within container opening. A utensil is frangibly secured to the insert body within an internal open area. A receiving tab is provided that projects from the body into the open area. An engagement structure is formed on the utensil and on the receiving tab. Abstract: A paper ramp for use in unloading a wheeled or castered product from a pallet or shipping base is provided. The ramp is wedge shaped and comprises a folded bottom member affixed to a pre-formed top member having integrally formed guide rails. The bottom member has closure flaps that fold together in interlocking fashion inside the wedged shaped ramp to support and stabilize the load bearing top surface of the ramp.
Abstract: The invention relates to a design method and a design system for designing a packaging (P) for packaging consumer packaged goods (CPG) having a plurality of packaging design features (cfea11 . . . cfeaM2), comprising a plurality of packaging information providing units (PIU1 . . . PIUn . . . PIUN) for providing packaging information items (PI1 . . . PIn . . . PIN), each of said packaging information providing units (PIU1 . . . PIUn . . . PIUN) providing at least one packaging information item (PI1 . . . PIn . . . PIN), and a packaging design module (PDM) including a determining unit (DET) for determining the packaging design specification (PDS) for said packaging (P) describing the final design features for said packaging (P) on the basis of said plurality of packaging information items (PI1 . . . PIn . . . PIN).
Abstract: A reel assembly is provided comprising a cylindrical barrel, a barrel head secured to each end of the barrel and a flange construction secured to each barrel head adjacent the ends of the barrel. The flange construction is formed by arcuate flange segments, each releasably secured to one another and to the associated barrel head. The barrel head includes inner and outer annular supports and an end plate securing the structure together. The inner and outer annular supports define a receipt slot for receiving and securing an end of the barrel therein. The end plate is rigidly fixed to the inner and outer supports and the flange construction is releasably secured to the outer annular support of the barrel head.
Abstract: A blister package is formed for retaining individual products. The package includes a receptacle substrate having a sealing flange and at least one receiving cell formed to retain product therein. A polymer top layer covers the cell and a portion thereof is sealed to the sealing flange. A score pattern is formed in at least one surface of the top layer and overlapping the cell. The score pattern is defined by a first plurality of score lines formed in a repeating pattern and a second plurality of score lines formed in a repeating pattern. The first and second plurality of rows overlap one another to define a plurality of intersections, with the overall score line pattern having a total linear length of the score lines per cell of at least 5 inches and a total number of score line intersections per cell of at least 10.

Abstract: A flange design providing improved strength, fracture resistance, and the like using corrugations extending substantially radially from an arbot aperture toward a rim portion. A spool or reel may include a tubular member to receive a stranded material wrapped therearound. A first flange comprising a core portion and an outer portion may secure to one end of the first flange engaging the tubular member. A second flange may secure to the other end of the tubular member. The core portion of a flange may comprise an arbor wall defining the perimeter of an arbor aperture. The arbor wall may be directly contacted and supported by a plurality of corrugations extending radially therefrom. The outer prortion of a flange may contact the core portion and extending radially away therefrom to an outer edge to restrain the stranded material in an axial direction.
Abstract: A method is described for making a retort container having one or two metal ends. A heat-sealable material is present on one or both of the container side wall and the/each metal end. The/each metal end is seamed onto the container body, and the resulting container assembly is conveyed on a conveyor adjacent to an induction sealing head and then adjacent to a cooling device. A pressure belt engages the upper end of the container assembly to keep the metal end from coming off the container body during the induction heating and cooling processes.
Abstract: A core for winding floor covering material, the core being a hollow, wound paper tube having an integrally formed longitudinally oriented indentation configured to accommodate the starting edge of the floor covering material. The core eliminates the longitudinal crease often found on the final few square meters of floor covering wound around a conventional core.
Abstract: A flexible packaging laminate formed by an outer structure joined to an inner structure. Score lines are formed in both structures to form a flap that is lifted to open the package. The score line through the outer structure defines a larger opening than the score line through the inner structure, such that a marginal region of the outer structure extends beyond the edge of the opening portion of the inner structure. A pressure-sensitive adhesive is used to re-adhere the marginal region to an underlying surface of the inner structure adjacent the opening through the laminate. The outer score line includes at least one tab having one end integrally joined to an outer edge of the flap and an opposite end anchored to a portion of the outer structure spaced from the outer edge, the tab being torn through upon initial creation of the opening through the flexible packaging laminate.
Abstract: An overcap is provided and forms a closure for at least a portion of an access opening on the container. A stand-off rim is formed on the upper surface of the overcap adjacent the peripheral edge. The overcap includes a closure body. A sealing flap is pivotally attached to the closure body and movable between a first position for covering the container access opening and a second position for exposing the access opening. A projection is positioned adjacent the stand-off rim on the closure body and defines a receiving gap for receipt and frictional engagement of the stand-off rim on the sealing flap in the open position. The frictional engagement of the sealing flap releasably retaining the sealing flap in the open second position.
Abstract: A package supports and dispenses one or more longitudinally stacked product pieces (18). The package includes a sheet positioned around the stacked product pieces. The sheet includes a plurality of longitudinally spaced weakened locations (120) extending transversely thereabout. The weakened locations include a pair of weakened extents (125) which are closely longitudinally spaced. Each weakened location defines a severable location for the sheet to permit dispensing of the product from the package.

Abstract: A package for retaining consumable products is formed by a planar sheet or web of a flexible material that is folded about a plurality of aligned products. The fold of the sheet defines one side edge of the package. The other three side edges of the package are formed by sealing the front and back panel portions of the sheet to one another. An opening mechanism is provided for exposing at least a portion of the products retained within the package. The opening mechanism may be provided along the folded side edge of the package, at a corner of the package, adjacent to one of the sealed side edges. Other forms of opening means may also be formed along one of the seal edges along with means for resealing the opened package.
