Patents Assigned to Spectrum Bridge, Inc.
  • Patent number: 9549380
Abstract: Spectrum that is shared by two or more radio devices that operate near a boundary of a tract is managed by a spectrum management system. The system determines a closest point of approach to the boundary for each radio device and an aggregate contributed power at each closest point of approach by the emissions from the radio devices previously granted spectrum access to the shared spectrum. A transmit power limit for the requesting radio device is determined at each closest point of approach. Spectrum access is granted to a requesting radio device and the granted spectrum access includes an authorized transmit power limit that does not exceed the smallest one of the transmit power limits.

  • Patent number: 9491633
Abstract: Managing spectrum use in a managed area where spectrum use is carried out by an incumbent user on an intermittent basis includes sensing spectrum use in the managed area and determining that the incumbent spectrum user is actively using spectrum in the managed area by analyzing sensor data. A spectrum use policy associated with characteristics of the determined spectrum use is made and one or more secondary spectrum users are notified that spectrum defined in the identified policy is unavailable for use by the one or more secondary users.

  • Patent number: 9491628
Abstract: Generic access credentials for use by a spoke radio device in communications with a hub radio device to acquire specific access credentials for the spoke radio device are determined by a spectrum management server to minimize the possibility of creating undesirable interference to other radio systems. The spectrum management server determines a coverage area of the hub radio device and determines sub-regions of the coverage area; determines a generic access transmit power limit for each sub-region of the coverage area for one or more channels on which the hub radio device has access rights to engage in wireless communications; and transmits the generic access transmit power level for each sub-region and channel combination to the hub radio device.

  • Patent number: 9386459
Abstract: Spectrum asset class determination is dynamically assessed so that a radio device may use a more preferred one of licensed spectrum or unlicensed spectrum for the specific wireless communications application of the radio device. Licensed spectrum, in addition to unlicensed spectrum, may be made available to preferred radio devices by validating that the radio system has an equipment ID and a secondary ID that authorizes the use of the licensed spectrum by the radio system.

  • Patent number: 9338604
Abstract: A method and system for verifying a location value reported by an electronic device. The reported location value and spectrum sensing data containing signal strength measurements for each channel of plural channels are received from the electronic device. A predicted RF footprint for the reported location is generated. The predicted RF footprint includes signal strength values for each of the plural channels. Each signal strength value is representative of RF energy that the electronic device ought to detect if the electronic device is actually present in the reported location and each signal strength value is determined as a function of known characteristics of radio devices with known locations. A determination is made as to whether the received signal strength measurements and the predicted RF footprint sufficiently correlate to validate that the electronic device made the signal strength measurements at the reported location.

  • Patent number: 9326257
Abstract: Systems and methods to facilitate acquisition of specific operating parameters by a spoke radio device via a hub radio device while the hub radio device operates using specific operating parameters and the spoke radio device operates using generic operating parameters. The spoke radio device may acquire the generic operating parameters from a beacon broadcast by the hub radio device. If a link between a hub radio device and a spoke radio device cannot be satisfactorily established and maintained using the specific and generic operating parameters, respectively, then the hub radio device may use alternative channels and/or reduce its operational area to attempt to converge specific and generic transmit power levels for improved link establishment.

  • Patent number: 9198109
Abstract: A system for channel handover includes a mobile radio device and a server storing polygon operating area information for a plurality of overlapping polygon operating areas for wireless communication. The mobile radio device receives the polygon operating area information, and determines the device location. Based on the polygon operating area information, the mobile radio device selects a first channel of operation corresponding to a channel that is available for use within a first polygon operating area. The travel of the mobile radio device is tracked to determine when the mobile radio device has exited the first polygon operating area and entered a second polygon operating area. When this occurs, the device selects a second channel of operation corresponding to a channel that is available for use within the second polygon operating area. Alternatively, the channel selection may be determined by the server and transmitted to the mobile radio device.

  • Patent number: 9179322
Abstract: Allocating spectrum to a secondary radio device includes determining a contour separation distance for the secondary radio device. The contour separation distance is a function of a minimum separation distance from protected areas of primary radio devices and an accuracy variance for the secondary radio device. The accuracy variance is specified as a distance and is a function of accuracy information for a reported location of the secondary radio device. If a distance between a contour of a protected area for a primary radio device and the reported location for the secondary radio device is less than the contour separation distance, a channel used by the primary radio device is not available for use by the secondary radio device for wireless communications. Otherwise the channel used by the primary radio device is available for use by the secondary radio device for wireless communications.

  • Patent number: 8886240
Abstract: An electronic device includes communications circuitry configured to communicate with an assistance server. The electronic device transmits a spectrum access request to the assistance server and receives, in response, an available channel list ranked by respective aggregate noise floor metric values from the assistance server. The aggregate noise floor metric value for each channel in the ranked channel list is determined by the server to account for a location of the electronic device, noise from radio frequency devices, and an adjacent channel blocking profile of the communications circuitry.

  • Patent number: 8868466
Abstract: The present disclosure describes systems and methods that facilitate the transfer rights associated with spectrum between parties. Access to spectrum for wireless communications may be transferred from a spectrum holder to a spectrum user while minimizing their role in submitting regulatory agency compliance filings. As a result, parties may transfer spectrum with relative ease, with faster transaction time and lower expense. This leads to more efficient use of the spectrum.
