Patent number: 6228508Abstract: Disclosed is a process for preparing a metal body via metal powder molding techniques. First and second component parts are conventionally injection molded from a metal powder molding material. The first ultrasonic part is molded to have an ultrasonic energy director surface, which may be, for example, a rib having a triangular cross section. In accordance with the disclosed process, the first and second component parts then are ultrasonically welded to form a green assembly, and this green assembly is debound and sintered in accordance with conventional metal powder molding techniques to form a metal body. The metal body thus formed will be hermetically sealed along the ultrasonic weld. The process of the invention thus may be employed in the preparation of metal objects that require a hermetic seal, such as fluid flow nozzles, pressure vessels, and the like.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2000Date of Patent: May 8, 2001Assignee: Spraying Systems Co.Inventors: Richard Kassanits, Timothy H. Patent number: 6189807Abstract: A spraying system having a control valve with an inlet port for connection to a liquid supply, a discharge port for connection to a spray nozzle, and a return port for connection to the liquid supply. The control valve includes a valve member which has a liquid flow passageway and is movable between an open position in which the liquid flow passageway communicates between the inlet and discharge ports for permitting the direction of pressurized liquid to the spray nozzle and a second position which prevents the flow of pressurized liquid to the discharge port. The spray nozzle has an associated pressure responsive check valve for preventing the flow of liquid to the spray nozzle, and hence for preventing drippage, upon movement of the control valve member to the off position.Type: GrantFiled: February 29, 2000Date of Patent: February 20, 2001Assignee: Spraying Systems Co.Inventors: Fred A. Patent number: 6182908Abstract: A solenoid operated liquid spray device which includes a flow control module disposed within the solenoid coil of the device for controlling the direction of pressurized through the spray device. The flow control module includes separate inlet and outlet portions which can be easily disassembled for on line service without necessity for disconnecting fluid supply and electric power lines. The outlet portion is secured to the inlet portion by an adjustable retainer which is selectively positionable for adjusting the operating stroke of the valve plunger without the necessity for damaging relative rotational movement between the valve plunger needle and valve seat. The module portions further define a first flow passageway communicating between a liquid inlet and discharge nozzle and a second or return passageway communicating with a heated liquid supply for enabling liquid in the spray device to be maintained at an optimum heated temperature when a spraying operation is interrupted.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 1999Date of Patent: February 6, 2001Assignee: Spraying Systems Co.Inventor: Richard J. Patent number: 6161778Abstract: An air assisted spray nozzle assembly is provided. The spray nozzle including a nozzle body having a liquid inlet passage and a gas inlet passage. The air cap is disposed at a downstream end of the nozzle body and includes an outer body member having an inner bore extending from an open upstream end thereof. A fluid directing insert is inserted in the inner bore of the outer body member. The fluid directing insert has a fluid directing passage extending therethrough which communicates with the liquid inlet passage in the nozzle body.
