Patent number: 5873607Abstract: A construction for a laminated window label is provided and includes a transparent film having an adhesive on one surface thereof, liner stock having first and second release-coated surfaces which is adhered on one surface to the transparent film, and an opaque layer which is adhered to the other surface of the liner stock. The transparent film and opaque layer preferably include die cut label portions. Variable and nonvariable information may be printed on the die cut label portion of the transparent film, and the opaque layer may be removed from the construction and replaced onto the surface of the film, thereby laminating the label portion of the opaque layer to the label portion of the transparent film. The two label portions may then be peeled away from the remainder of the construction as a single label which is then applied to a transparent surface such as a window.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 1996Date of Patent: February 23, 1999Assignee: The Standard Register CompanyInventor: Bryce C. Patent number: 5853197Abstract: A security document is provided comprising a substrate having a top surface for carrying indicia. The top surface has a plurality of areas. Each of the areas contains background printed matter on the top surface. The background printed matter made up of a pattern of background elements. Each of the areas also contains a security term printed on the top surface of the substrate. The security term is composed of a pattern of security term elements. The background elements and/or the security term elements differ in element size, shape, angle, density, and/or frequency between adjacent areas. Also, within each of the areas either the background elements or the security term elements are not readily duplicated by a color copier while the remaining elements in the area are readily duplicated by a color copier. This results in a visually perceptible security term being produced upon copying of the security document.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 1996Date of Patent: December 29, 1998Assignee: The Standard Register CompanyInventors: William H Mowry, Jr., A Dale Lakes

Patent number: 5814579Abstract: The invention described in the specification relates to latent image printing and developing systems and to substrates containing latent images. High quality latent images are prepared by a printing method which deposits a layer containing organic-based dye particles and organic-based developer particles, each having a particle size of from about 2 to about 6 microns, on a substrate. The image is then developed by contacting the substantially invisible image of dye and developer particles with an oxygenated solvent from an imaging device. Multicolor, vivid images are obtained as a result of the image printing and developing system of the invention.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 1996Date of Patent: September 29, 1998Assignee: The Standard Register CompanyInventors: Mark D.
