Abstract: A faucet fitting system having interchangeable components useable in both single handle and dual handle faucet fixtures. The component system is designed to allow the same putty plate with breast plate, waterway spout, aerator and mounting nuts to be used with the various escutcheons, metering valves and waterways associated with the single handle and dual handle faucet fixtures. Specially constructed water valves, putty plates and escutcheon constructions useable in conjunction with the system are also disclosed.
Abstract: A one piece steel device is provided to hold landscape lumber, such as railroad timbers and the like, in fixed proper relationship. The body is triangular in shape, to be driven into the ground by the point of the triangle. The opposite end extends in two flanges which are separated by a support shelf. The support shelf and the center line of the triangular body may be bent through any angle, the support shelf preferably comprising two pieces meeting at the center line extending outwardly from the base of the triangular portion. The triangular body is driven into earth, after bending the article along its center line to the angle two adjacent pieces are desired to be held at. Each timber piece is secured to one of the flanges by driving retaining members through holes provided in the flanges in or through the lumber.
Abstract: The performance of natural rubber based products, such as engine mounts which are susceptible to degradation caused by heat, oxidation, ozone attack or ultraviolet radiation is significantly improved by coating exposed surfaces of the product with a polymeric material having excellent heat and oxidation resistance properties. By applying such polymeric coatings having high resistance towards oxidation under excessive heat, the C.dbd.C bonds of the natural rubber are protected from oxygen and ozone attacks, thereby allowing its strain-crystallization characteristic properties to be retained.
Abstract: An electrochemical process for extracting oxygen from an oxygen-containing gas which uses an electrochemical cell having two zones separated by a multi-component membrane made from intimate, gas-impervious, multi-phase mixture of an electronically conductive phase and an oxygen ion-conducting phase. In one zone a gas containing oxygen is passed in contact with the membrane. In the other zone a gas capable of reacting with oxygen is passed in contact with the membrane.

Abstract: A refrigeration apparatus contains an oil sump having an interior portion. A housing is located, at least in part, within the oil sump interior. The housing has at least one inlet and at least one outlet. The inlet allows a vent gas stream to enter the housing and the outlet allows a vent gas stream to exit the housing. The inlet may be an aperture extending circumferentially around the housing about one-third to one-half of the housing's circumference. Additionally, the inlet should be above the surface level of any oil pool in the sump. A coalescing demister filter is located within the housing between the inlet and the outlet. The housing may include a wall for sheltering the filter from agitated areas of the gearbox. The filter is configured to remove substantially all of the oil from the vent gas stream. The filter may also have an outlet end which is sealed from the oil sump. The filter may also be pleated and enhances oil coalescence.

Abstract: An atomic-level step-height standard with step heights less than about 100 .ANG. is in the form of a silicon wafer die with a generally smooth reflective surface but with a periodic pattern of alternating parallel flat linear mesas and valleys having a rectangular cross-section. The periodicity of this pattern of surface features is less than 100 .mu.m and preferably about 20 .mu.m. Certification of the standard involves measuring the pitch and the line or space width of the mesas or valleys using a calibrated probe microscope in order to determine the pattern's duty cycle (C), and also measuring a bidirectional reflectance distribution function for light scattered from the periodic pattern using an angle-resolved scatterometer. From this measurement, a one-dimensional power spectral density function is calculated, then an RMS roughness (R.sub.q) value is derived. The characteristic step height (H) of the standard can then be certified as being H=R.sub.q [C(1-C)].sup.
Abstract: Smearing of indicia (30,36) or deterioration of a label may be eliminated in a label form that provides protection for the imaging (30,36) in a construction that includes a sheet of transparent face stock (12), a layer of transparent pressure sensitive adhesive (14) on one side of the face stock sheet (12) and a sheet of transparent release liner (10) releasably adhered to the one side of the face stock sheet (12) by the adhesive (14). A die cut (18) is located in the release liner sheet (10) and defines a first removable frame section (20) and a second label defining section (22). The first section (20) surrounds the second section (22) so that when removed, a pattern of the adhesive (14) will be exposed. Reverse image printing (30) is disposed on the release liner second section (22).

Abstract: A thermally imagable business record, such as a form, label, tag, or the like is provided which may be activated to form human and/or machine readable images as well as different colored images. The record comprises a substrate having a thermally imagable coating on substantially its entire surface which forms a first color when activated, and having a desensitized area on at least one area of its surface which may be overcoated with a thermally imagable coating capable of forming a different color upon activation than the first thermally imagable coating. The first thermally imagable coating provides images which are of machine readable quality, while the additional thermally imagable coatings provide images of a different color to designate selected areas on the form or label to a user.
