Abstract: The general problem of pattern change discovery between high-dimensional data sets is addressed by considering the notion of the principal angles between the subspaces is introduced to measure the subspace difference between two high-dimensional data sets. Current methods either mainly focus on magnitude change detection of low-dimensional data sets or are under supervised frameworks. Principal angles bear a property to isolate subspace change from the magnitude change. To address the challenge of directly computing the principal angles, matrix factorization is used to serve as a statistical framework and develop the principle of the dominant subspace mapping to transfer the principal angle based detection to a matrix factorization problem. Matrix factorization can be naturally embedded into the likelihood ratio test based on the linear models. The method may be unsupervised and addresses the statistical significance of the pattern changes between high-dimensional data sets.

Abstract: A method and system for multi-object tracking is set forth. Object data for boundaries of a plurality of objects are received. Poisson multi-Bernoulli mixture filtering is performed on the object data to form a filtered set of object data. Ultimately, the filtered set of object data is used to control the operation of the vehicle. Identifiers and probabilities are associated with the objects to reduce the set of object data.

Abstract: Sub-micrometer bioparticles are separated by size in a microfluidic channel utilizing a ratchet migration mechanism. A structure within the microfluidic channel includes an array of micro-posts arranged in laterally shifted rows. Reservoirs are disposed at each end of the microfluidic channel. A biased AC potential is applied across the channel via electrodes immersed into fluid in each of the reservoirs to induce a non-uniform electric field through the microfluidic channel. The applied potential comprises a first waveform with a first frequency that induces electro-kinetic flow of sub-micrometer bioparticles in the microfluidic channel, and an intermittent superimposed second waveform with a higher frequency. The second waveform selectively induces a dielectrophoretic trapping force to selectively impart ratchet migration based on particle size for separating the sub-micrometer bioparticles by size in the microfluidic channel.

Abstract: A scheme for identifying wireless devices by capturing out-of-band information in addition to in-band information from wireless devices for enabling accurate classification of wireless devices. Both the in-band and out-of-band spectrum emissions of the received signal are used to capture hardware signatures and features. These hardware signatures are used to discriminate different wireless devices uniquely and efficiently, even when the devices have the same hardware with significantly reduced distortions. The out-of-band information can be extracted using radios with software defined capabilities. Deep learning-based device classification technique is applied that uses IQ samples collected from the RF signals to efficiently identify and classify high-performing transmitters that have the same, minimally distorted hardware components.

Abstract: A gasifier system includes a reactor for receiving a wet feedstock which has a base and a container rotatably connected to the base such that a rotation of the container causes a mixing of the feedstock in an interior of the reactor. The interior is bounded by the base and the container. A space between the base and the container allows an entry of oxygen into the interior. The space has a dimension such that the feedstock is fully oxidized in a combustion area adjacent the base and such that the feedstock avoids combustion in a remainder of the interior. The reactor has a longitudinal axis inclined at an inclination angle relative to a horizontal line to promote the mixing of the feedstock in the interior.
