  • Publication number: 20020026773
Abstract: A touch roller 20 (a driven roller) is mounted on the free end 22a of a support arm 22 that can rotate. A changeover mechanism 26 rotates the support arm 22, thus changing the inclination of the support arm 22. The touch roller 20 is thereby moved between two positions. In the first position, the touch roller 20 is pressed onto a forward driving roller 12. In the second position, the touch roller 20 is pressed onto a reverse driving roller 14. The rollers 12 and 14 are spaced apart from each other. The touch roller 20 may be moved to the third position, where it remains spaced from both the forward driving roller 12 and the reverse driving roller 14. In the second position, the touch roller 20 can be pushed onto the reverse driving roller with a small force or a large force. When the touch roller 20 is pushed onto the reverse driving roller 14 with the small force, the reverse driving roller 14 pulls back a band 15.

  • Patent number: 5379576
Abstract: A band feeding and tightening apparatus for a packing machine capable of effectively preventing jamming of a band in band passages during feeding and tightening of the band. A feed touch roller is pressedly contacted through the band with a feed roller rotated at a high speed, to thereby feed the band to a package. When a distal end of the band is gripped, a return touch roller is pressedly contacted through the band with a return roller rotated at a high speed, to thereby draw back the band, resulting in the band being wound around the package. Then, a tension touch roller is pressedly contacted through the band with a tension roller, to thereby tighten the band. Subsequently, an overlapped portion of the band is bonded by welding and a portion of the band wound around the package is cut from the remaining part of the band. A movable guide plate is moved in association with pressing of the feed touch roller to reduce a gap of a feed chute.

  • Patent number: 5079899
Abstract: A band strapping machine having more than one supply reel and having a mechanism that automatically loads a band from a second supply reel when a first supply reel becomes empty. The trailing end of a band from the first band reel is grabbed so that it is not introduced into the machine's pool box and the band previously accumulated in the pool box is fed through the machine and used to accomplish a final strapping operation. The part of the band not needed to complete the final strapping operation is ejected from the machine by reverse rotation of a pool roller. The leading end of the replacement band is then gripped and a band guide unit moves into position to guide the replacement band through the machine's band guide arch to the machine's feed unit. Once the leading end of the replacement band has attained a preselected position, a coveyor line carrying articles to be strapped is re-started and a package is strapped with the band in the band guide arch.
