Abstract: A hand holdable light comprises: a light body having a forward portion, a rearward portion, and a central portion between the forward portion and to the rearward portion; a light source proximate a forward end; and a switch for energizing the light source. The rearward portion has a non-circular cross-section; the switch is on the forward portion; and the central portion has a recess opposite the switch. The light is holdable by a hand with a finger or thumb proximate the recess and the other of a finger or thumb proximate the switch. A battery assembly comprises: a battery housing for receiving and connecting a battery; an electrical switch on a first end of the battery housing; and a pattern of electrical contacts on a second end of the battery housing, wherein ones of the electrical contacts are connected to the battery.

Abstract: A portable light may comprise: a light body having an internal cavity configured to receive a rechargeable power source, having a keying feature, and having an opening through an exterior wall in a predetermined location relative to the keying feature; and a light source. A rechargeable power source has a charging connector and a keying feature in predetermined locations that when the keying feature thereof engages the keying feature of the internal cavity, the charging connector thereof is aligned with the opening through the exterior wall of the light body. Thus an external source of charging power can be connected through the opening in the exterior wall directly to the charging connector of the rechargeable power source for recharging the rechargeable power source while it is in the portable light.

Abstract: A flashlight assembly includes a light assembly with a light source and a heat sink, a power source, an electromechanical switch assembly for coupling the light source with the power source, and a metallic housing having first and second bodies coupled together to define an interior volume and including a power source compartment. The light assembly is disposed in the interior volume and compressed between the first and second bodies to secure it to the metallic housing.
Abstract: A mountable light includes a light body and a mounting arrangement including first and second clamping members from a set of pairs of clamping members. The light body has first and second opposing receptacles in which the respective clamping members are respectively removably disposed to move toward and away from each other. One clamping member may be fastened in its receptacle so as to be a fixed clamping member while the other clamping member is movable. A clamping mechanism may move the clamping members closer together to engage a mounting rail or away from each other to release the rail. An interchangeable key member may be provided between the clamping members, and may be selected from a set of interchangeable key members.
Abstract: A portable light may comprise: a light source including plural light emitting diodes (LEDs); a signaling light source; and plural actuators including: a first actuator for selecting of the plural LEDs; a second actuator coupling the selected LED for producing light; and a third actuator coupling the signaling light source to produce modulated light. A rotatable actuator thereof may comprise: a central cylindrical part of a tapered actuator member in a hollow cylindrical support with its wider base within the body and its narrower tip extending therefrom with the selector knob fixed thereto and rotatable therewith in the hollow cylindrical support, and an actuator ring around the hollow cylindrical support. A safety cover for an actuator may also be provided.
