Patents Assigned to Stress-Tek, Inc.
  • Patent number: 9726535
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to load cell assemblies configured for measuring loads or weight associated with a semi-trailer. In one embodiment, a load cell assembly includes a shear plate load cell configured to be coupled between a frame and a support member of the semi-trailer. The shear plate load cell detects or measures the trailer's weight with a sensor positioned on a strain sensing section of a plate. The strain sensing section is positioned at a location offset from the plate's centerline. The shear plate load cell is accordingly configured to provide an ideal moment balance that allows accurate load measurements independent of where the load is applied relative to the load cell or the support member.

  • Patent number: 7561034
Abstract: A load warning system for use with a vehicle having a load-support portion, a frame, and a vehicle-support portion movably coupled to the frame. The system has an engagement portion mountable to the vehicle-support portion or the frame and is movable therewith as a unit. A load indicator is mountable to the other one of the vehicle-support portion or the frame, and is spaced apart from the engagement portion when in a first position. The load indicator moves to a second position and engages the engagement portion when the frame moves a selected distance in response to the load applied to the load-support portion. The load indicator provides a signal upon being moved to the second position. A warning indicator is coupled to the load indicator and provides an improper load warning to a user in response to the signal from the load indicator.

  • Patent number: 6362439
Abstract: A load-cell assembly usable with a frame assembly that supports a selected mass thereon. The frame assembly has first and second frames movable relative to each other. The load-cell assembly has a load-cell body attachable to the first frame and substantially stationary relative to the first frame. A stud is attached to the load-cell body and has an elongated free end portion extending away from the load-cell body. A receiver body is attachable to the second frame and is substantially stationary relative to the second frame. A stud receiver is attached to the receiver body. The stud receiver has an outer portion attached to the receiver body so it is substantially non-movable relative to the receiver body. The stud receiver has an inner surface attached to the stud's free end portion and is substantially non-movable relative to the free end portion.

  • Patent number: 4884644
Abstract: An on-board system for measuring vehicle loads on dual axles with a suspension system having a front hanger, a rear hanger, an equalizer and an equalizer hanger. Attached to the equalizer, in one embodiment, are a plurality of strain gauges, arranged in two cut-out portions. The strain gauges are positioned so that the measured strain corresponds to the force of the vertical load on the equalizer. The output of the strain gauges is then applied to a conventional bridge circuit and from there to a conventional electronic circuit to provide a display which indicates the weight of the load on the dual wheels.

  • Patent number: 4666003
Abstract: A load cell for on-board weighing applications, including an elongated sheer force measuring beam (24) which includes mounting means (52,54,56) for securing the opposing longitudinal ends of the beam (24) to the frame (58) of the vehicle. The load is applied against the upper surface (32) of the beam (24) through a platform (20) or the like. The shear strains caused by the load are concentrated in an area near each end of the beam (24). The strain measuring means (30) are located in holes in the sides of the beam in the shear force areas and measure the shear strains on the beam, which in turn are representative of the weight of the load.
