  • Patent number: 4939119
Abstract: A process for producing a superconducting article having a layer of compound oxide of quasi-perovskite type oxide crystal structure by electrodeposition technique. The process is characterized by dispersing a material powder in a liquid containing a carrier, driving ionized material particles towards a substrate by applying a direct current between a substrate and a counter electrode, and then sintering a thin layer of powders deposited on the substrate to convert the deposited powders to a superconducting compound oxide.

  • Patent number: 4848872
Abstract: An optical core collator is disclosed wherein a light is modulated at a near end portion of an optical fiber by repeating applying a bending to and removing the applied bending from said optical fiber with a mechanical means, and the thus modulated light is detected with a photosensor at a far end portion of said optical fiber while applying a bending to said optical fiber with another mechanical means, thereby the cores of said optical fiber can be collated.

  • Patent number: 4818308
Abstract: Aluminum alloy comprises 10 to 36 wt % of Si, 2 to 10 wt % of at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Fe, Ni, Co, Cr and Mn, and remainder consisting essentially of aluminum. The aluminum alloy further includes 1.0 to 12 wt % of Cu and 0.1 to 3.0 wt % of Mg. In a method for producing the aluminum alloy the steps comprises preparing powder mixtures including Si, at least one of metal selected from the group consisting of Fe, Ni, Co, Cr and Mn, and remainder consisting essentially of Al, producing aluminum alloy powders, compacting the aluminum alloy powders into a shape and hot working the aluminum alloy powder compact.

  • Patent number: 4728370
Abstract: Disclosed are pin or nip type amorphous photovoltaic elements having the i-type layer comprised of an a-SiGe: H film, which are characterized in that an i-type amorphous silicon buffer layer is disposed between the layers of p-type and i-type and thus, the mutual diffusion of impurities and/or elements added to the i-type and/or the p-type layers through the p/i boundary is effectively restricted due to the presence of the buffer layer. As a result the formation of defects at the p/i boundary and the deterioration of the p-type layer are effectively prevented, and the properties important to these kinds of devices, such as Voc, Jsc, FF being substantially improved, thereby making it possible to provide photovoltaic elements such as solar batteries having a practically acceptable long life span and a high reliability.

  • Patent number: 4627105
Abstract: A sub-center type switched-star CATV system network in which a number of transmission signals are transmitted from a central source to a number of sub-centers over a number of sets of optical fibers. In view of the long distances involved, the transmission signals are transmitted in pulse frequency modulation form, one pulse frequency modulation signal being applied to each optical fiber. At each sub-center, each pulse frequency modulation signal is converted into a frequency modulation signal by first frequency dividing the pulse frequency modulation signal and then passing the divided signal through a band-pass filter which eliminates all signal components except the fundamental frequency. The pulse frequency modulated signals may pass through a switch to select the number of transmission signals which ultimately reach the subscribers. The frequency modulated signals are then frequency multiplexed to produce a multiplexed signal and the multiplexed signal is sent to a number of subscribers.

  • Patent number: 4574923
Abstract: A floating disk brake of small weight and low manufacturing cost in which the caliper slides stably and the center of gravity of the caliper is set close to the front fork or the like where it is supported. Torque receiving surfaces formed on both sides of a caliper are arranged such that side surfaces of the backing plates of the pads are abutted thereagainst. A pin which supports the pads on both sides of the disk rotor is provided in the caliper, extending parallel to the rotary axis of the disk rotor and inserted into central portions of peripheries of the backing plates. Two slide bolts for slidably supporting the caliper have first end portions screwed into a member which is rigid with the body or frame of the vehicle and second end portions slidably inserted into respective sides of the caliper. At least one of the slide bolts is arranged so as to partially overlie the disk rotor with a slide center of that slide bolt being substantially coincident with the center of the thickness of the disk rotor.

  • Patent number: 4478675
Abstract: GaAs single crystals doped with boron and having a lowered dislocation density are grown from a GaAs melt covered with B.sub.2 O.sub.3 melt as a liquid encapsulant. The method comprises using a crucible made of a material selected from the group consisting of PBN, AlN and Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 as a crucible for holding the GaAs melt, adding 0.25 to 0.95 atomic percent of boron to the GaAs melt under conditions such that the residual oxygen quantity is at most 5.times.10.sup.-2 mole percent to the GaAs melt, and thereby adjusting the concentration of boron in the grown crystal to 2.times.10.sup.18 to 1.times.10.sup.19 atoms per cm.sup.3. The method is applied to an LE-VB method and an LE-VGF method as well as an LEC method.

  • Patent number: 4479031
Abstract: A heat-shrinkable tube for use in forming a connection part for shielded polyolefin insulated electrical wires or cables. The heat-shrinkable tube comprises an integrated assembly of two cylindrical heat-shrinkable semiconductive members arranged end-to-end and surrounded and joined at the adjacent ends thereof by an insulation material. The shrink ratio of a narrow region of the heat-shrinkable tube defined by the adjacent ends and joining insulation material is smaller than that of the remainder of the tube. The adjacent ends of the cylindrical members may partially overlap each other, and a portion of each adjacent end may be folded back upon itself to produce a rounded shape for avoiding concentration of the electric field.

  • Patent number: 4143833
Abstract: This invention relates to a wire forcing device on a distributor of a wire take up apparatus to take up a wire such as an electric cable on a reel in an arranged manner. The wire forcing device has wire engaging means to force a first turn of a wire winding layer against either end of the reel. The wire engaging means may comprise a pair of guide members of the distributor, or may be separate from the guide members. If the wire engaging means comprises the guide members of the distributor, while the wire is taken up on the reel between the flanges thereof, the wire engaging means guides the wire for transversely distributing the wire, and just before a first turn of a new winding layer begins to be wound adjacent to either of the reel flanges or while the first turn of the new winding layer is wound, either of the guide members forces the wire against the corresponding reel flange.
