Patent number: 9380794Abstract: A system and method for identifying areas of a processing plant in which a glove is damaged. The system includes utilizing color-coded sets of gloves in different areas or processing steps within the plant. All the gloves used in a particular plant are provided with a unique identifier. If a piece of a glove is located in the product within the plant, the color of that piece indicates the area or process of the plant in which the glove was used. If a piece of a damaged glove is located in the product at a remote destination, the unique identifier in that piece is matched with a registry to determine the plant in which the glove was used. The color of the piece then helps the plant to identify where the damaged glove was used. The system and method are particularly helpful in the food processing industry, especially meat processing.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 2013Date of Patent: July 5, 2016Assignee: Summit Glove Inc.Inventor: James L. Patent number: 9370209Abstract: An ambidextrous or hand specific glove with a widened cuff area to aid in donning or doffing the glove is disclosed, together with a former for fabricating the glove and a method of fabricating the same. The glove may further include a bead on the cuff to resist tearing when the glove is put on or taken off. The glove may be fabricated on a continuous, automated chain machine or a batch or semi-batch machine. While the cuff region on the former for fabricating the glove is elliptical in cross-section and is flared, the region of the former on which the end of the glove is fabricated is circular in cross-section and thus allows the beading process to be successfully undertaken.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 2014Date of Patent: June 21, 2016Assignee: Summit Glove Inc.Inventor: James L. Patent number: 8856967Abstract: A glove including a wrist region, a palm region, and digit regions. A band zone is defined in a back surface of one or more digit regions and grippingly engages a back of the user's digit received in that region. The band zone includes C-shaped elastomeric bands disposed at right angles to a longitudinal axis of the digit region. Each band extends around less than one half of the circumference of the digit region. The band zone extends from proximate the palm region to an area disposed adjacent a nail of the user's digit. A smooth zone is provided in a surface of the digit region opposite the band zone. The smooth zone is free of elastomeric bands and contacts a front surface of the user's digit. This configuration aids in gripping the user's digit while preserving tactile sensitivity therein when the glove is used for long periods of time.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2013Date of Patent: October 14, 2014Assignee: Summit Glove Inc.Inventors: Baskaran Govindasamy, James L. Publication number: 20130196066Abstract: A method of fabricating a temperature resistant and fluid impermeable protective glove having front and back panels joined by at least one seam. During manufacture, the glove is dipped into a first thin liquid to coat the exterior surface of the glove. The first liquid penetrates through gaps in the seam and seals those gaps as it solidifies. The first liquid coated glove is then dipped into a second thicker liquid to coat the entire exterior surface including the sealed seam. A third coating may be applied to the interior surface of the glove prior to joining the front and back panels together. The glove may also include an interior liner and an exterior protective member for added comfort and protection.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 12, 2013Publication date: August 1, 2013Applicant: SUMMIT GLOVE INC.Inventor: SUMMIT GLOVE INC.

Patent number: 8495764Abstract: An ambidextrous glove that includes a thumb region, an index finger region, a middle finger region, a ring finger region and little finger region all aligned along a common axis. The index finger region is rotated through ninety degrees relative to the orientations of all of the middle, ring and little finger regions to provide for easier insertion of a hand into the glove. A textured pattern is provided on the surfaces of the glove used to grip objects. The pattern is one of a raised fan shape and raised diamond shape.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 2012Date of Patent: July 30, 2013Assignee: Summit Glove Inc.Inventor: James L. Hull

Publication number: 20080022436Abstract: A heat resistant and liquid impermeable glove for the food service industry that has an outer shell and an inner liner that are detachably securable to one another. The liner is insertable into the shell and is detachably secured thereto by one or more securements. Each of the shell and the liner have a front and a back that are joined together and form a hollow interior therebetween. Each of the shell and liner has a peripheral edge which surrounds an opening to the hollow interior and has digit shaped extension that receive the fingers and thumb of a worker. A first securement is applied to an exterior surface of the liner proximate its peripheral edge and to an interior surface of the shell proximate its peripheral edge. A second securement is applied to the exterior surface of the digit-shaped extensions of the liner and to the interior surface of the digit-shaped extensions of the shell. The first and second securements comprise first and second layers of complementary mating fastener material.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 31, 2006Publication date: January 31, 2008Applicant: SUMMIT GLOVE INC.Inventor: James L.
