  • Patent number: 4866322
Abstract: For easily assembling an electric motor a locking lug is formed onto the brush support plate. In an assembly position the ratchet lug of said locking lug engages a cavity of the brush and keeps it at a distance from the commutator so that the commutator can easily be installed between the brushes. In order to release the arrest of the brushes during the assembly a releasing part of the locking lug projects into a recess in the housing cover. This arrangement is easy to manufacture and reduced the number of assembly steps. In a second embodiment the releasing part of the locking lug lies above the front side of the housing cover and projects into a recess in the housing cover lid.

  • Patent number: 4835666
Abstract: A signal lamp for an automotive vehicle is disclosed including a housing having at least two individual signal compartments each including a light source and a common glass cover having a predetermined color. A colorless carrier disc having black opaque stripes on one side of the carrier disc and lens elements on an opposite side spans both compartments. A red color filter spans one compartment between the carrier disc and the one compartment lamp and an unsaturated light filter of a color different from the color of the glass cover spans the other compartment between the carrier disc and the other lamp. In the off condition of both lamps, the signal lamp color is determined by the color of the glass cover. The red filter produces a red signal when the one lamp is on.

  • Patent number: 4802257
Abstract: This invention describes a wiper blade with a substantially U-shaped supporting yoke between the side walls of which is fixed a component part which, coaxially to bores in the side walls of the supporting yoke, has a bearing bore for a pivot pin connecting the wiper blade and wiper arm. The diameter of the bore in the side walls is larger than the diameter of the pivot pin, so that a metallic contact between pivot pin and side walls of the supporting yoke is prevented. In order to secure the position of the bearing axially a metallic locking spring is additionally fixed in this component part which cooperates with a groove in the pivot pin.

  • Patent number: 4797520
Abstract: A switch, especially for motor vehicles, includes a housing which is insertable into an opening of a mounting plate. The housing is limited by a front plate, several side walls and a base plate. Locking springs project from two side walls. Each locking spring carries a stud. When the switch is mounted the studs snap into position behind the mounting plate. Release shanks projecting into the housing interior originate from the locking spring, which release shanks end in the area of apertures in the front plate. Thus the mounting plate need not have openings through which the locking springs are accessible for removal of the switch. Thus the switch can be surrounded by the mounting plate over the entire perimeter of its front plate.

  • Patent number: 4791253
Abstract: This invention relates to an electric switch, especially to a steering column switch. The switch comprises an insulation plate, a switch lever and a switching member, which are jointly swivellably mounted on the insulation plate in a swivelling plane extending perpendicular to a swivelling shaft and which are tiltable from this plane. In the swivelling plane, the lever and switching member can occupy several operating positions. The various operating positions are defined by a locking cam and a detent. One of these two elements is positioned on a locking lever. One end of said locking lever is swivellably mounted about a shaft parallel to the swivelling shaft of the switching member and the locking member is resiliently prestressed against the switching member.

  • Patent number: 4773112
Abstract: In a reciprocating wiper system for motor vehicles with a piston adjustably guided in a housing a slide fixed on the housing in a torsionally firm way is provided as a protection against twisting, the slide is longitudinally guided on a guide element fixed to the housing. To compensate for unavoidable tolerances of position and shape of the guide elements and the slide a calotte-shaped bearing body is fittingly guided on the guide element. The bearing body is movably mounted with play in the radial direction in a calotte-shaped receiver on the slide.

  • Patent number: 4741071
Abstract: In a wiper blade for a vehicular windshield wiper system, the main yoke is equipped with a spoiler constructed such that the overall height of the wiper blade is not enlarged and nevertheless the spoiler is prevented from touching the window pane to be cleaned. The spoiler is formed in such a way that the wiping pattern does not deteriorate at low or higher driving speeds.

  • Patent number: 4741068
Abstract: A windshield wiper arm including a tension spring which acts upon a holding pin of a swivellable rocker which, upon tilting of the wiper link from its operating position to a tilted position, is abruptly changed from a first end position to a second end position. The swivelling angle of the link between the operating position and a stable tilted position is reduced.

  • Patent number: 4739677
Abstract: An adjusting device in accordance with the invention for vehicular door locking systems operates such that in each adjusting action the adjusting force of the drive motor is checked to determine whether it is great enough to operate the output element. Only when this checking has a positive result is an adjusting action initiated.

  • Patent number: 4739132
Abstract: This invention relates to a steering column switch with two switch units arranged in superposed planes, which switch units each have a board with injection-moulded metal conductors and plug contacts the ends of which are rectangularly bent. The ends of the plug contacts of the switch unit which, in the plugging direction, is farther away from the connector, are positioned laterally of the ends of the other switch unit with a spacing from a conceived plane through the housing, which spacing is larger than the spacing of the ends of the plug contacts of the other switch unit from this plane. Thus a compact construction of the connection area of the switch is ensured.

  • Patent number: 4736484
Abstract: In a windshield wiper system for motor vehicles the contact pressure of the wiper onto the window is adjustable while the wiper is moving. For this purpose a multi-part actuator driven by an electromotive adjusting device and guided in a bore of the wiper shaft is axially displaced. The multi-part construction of this actuator compensates for faulty alignment, so that the adjusting mechanism operates with a good efficiency and enables rapid adjusting times.

  • Patent number: 4723101
Abstract: A windshield wiper system includes two windshield wipers of which each is mounted on a separate wiper shaft and may be driven to and fro by a separate motor between an inner reversing position and an outer reversing position, which windshield wipers are at least partially superposed in their inner reversing position and rotate in opposite directions through one wiping cycle. The two windshield wipers are moved without collision even though they wipe an overlapping area. The first windshield wiper is driven by its associated motor with a greater angular velocity of the output shaft than the second windshield wiper is driven by its motor. In addition the first windshield wiper is stopped for a predetermined time in its inner reversing position between two wiping cycles.

  • Patent number: 4719661
Abstract: A windshield wiper assembly in addition to carrying the wiper blade, also carries an additional cleaning device which may be a brush, an ice scraper, or an additional blade through which washer fluid may be sprayed. The additional device is coupled with the wiper arm-and-blade assembly by means of a coupling which may be operated by an adjusting element. The additional part is only used, when it is really necessary and, in addition, serves to reduce pressure on the wiper arm-and-blade assembly in the parking position.

  • Patent number: 4701971
Abstract: This invention describes a wiper system for motor vehicles in which the wiper arm is radially retracted and extended during the to-and-fro motion, so that in comparison with conventional systems an enlarged wiping area is achieved. The coupled gear for retracting and extending a slide mounted in a guide member and connected with the wiper arm is arranged outside the guide member. The coupled gear drives a shaft operatively connected with the slide, which shaft is mounted in a bore of the actual drive shaft for driving the guide member in pendulum-fashion. Thereby the overall height and the weight of the guide member is reduced.

  • Patent number: 4698560
Abstract: In vehicular electric door lock arrangement the running time of a first adjusting unit is longer than the worst possible running times of the other adjusting units. The first adjusting unit operates a switching unit via which the running time of the other adjusting units is preset. The separate timing element for the control of the various adjusting units used in prior systems can be omitted, because this timing function is provided by one of the adjusting units.
