Abstract: An aspect of the present invention is a voltage controlled oscillator that provides multi octave band tenability. The oscillator preferably includes one or more multi planar resonators which allow it to be implemented in integrated circuit form. Oscillators implemented in accordance with the aspect of the present invention provide as wide a tuning range as the YIG based resonators but are much more compact and efficient. Therefore, they are amenable to implementation in integrated circuits and suited for adaptation in third and future generation wireless devices.

Abstract: A surface mountable transformer integratable into a printed circuit board. In one aspect, the transformer comprises two broadside vertically coupled transmission lines. In another aspect, the transformer may comprise two broadside vertically partially coupled transmission lines. The layout of the transformer is adaptable for use in microwave modules where transformers are integrated into the printed circuit board and the active components are mounted in the cavity. The layout preferably requires only two signal areas. In addition, an aspect of the present invention allows the differential or unbalanced ports to lie on the same surface as the balanced port.

Abstract: A voltage controlled oscillator compising a distributed coupled resonator (DCR) that desirably produces a low noise signal source with reduced phase hits in comparison to a high Q resonator, such as a ceramic and SAW (Surface Acoustic Wave) resonator based oscillator.
Abstract: The invention relates to an oscillator circuit configuration comprising in an LC-parallel oscillatory circuit and a transistor as an amplifying element. A compensating winding is associated with the parallel oscillatory circuit whereby the collector voltage of the transistor is fed to said winding in order to compensate the effect of the parasitic collector capacity. Preferably, the collector current from the transistor is maintained constant be an amplifier.
Abstract: In one aspect, a voltage controlled oscillator is provided that includes circuitry comprising tunable coupled resonator networks, which are coupled to a terminal of a pair of three-terminal devices through a tuning voltage network which supports wide-band tunability. In another aspect, a wide-band tunable resonator is provided that is amenable to integration in the integrated circuit form.
