Abstract: A detachment system for delivering an embolic coil implant to a treatment site is provided. A loop wire that is looped over a pull wire of the system can include one or more twists to increase frictional resistance against the pull wire. The additional resistance decreases likelihood of premature deployment of the embolic coil prior to the detachment system reaching the treatment site.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are various exemplary systems and methods for deploying an implant to a target location of a body vessel. The delivery member can include a tubular body including a lumen and compressed distal portion. The delivery member can include a loop wire with a loop opening positioned approximate the compressed distal portion. The delivery member can include a pull wire that has a proximal pull wire portion and a distal pull wire portion connected by a suture linkage. The suture linkage can include a proximal suture knot engaged to the proximal pull wire portion and a distal suture knot engaged to the distal pull wire portion. Pull wire beads positioned on the proximal pull wire and distal pull wire portion can retain the suture knots during proximal translation of the pull wire. The suture linkage can include slack that is effective to prevent premature deployment of the implant.
Abstract: A detachment system for delivering an embolic coil implant to a treatment site is provided. A pull wire through a lumen of the detachment system that engages a loop wire can include a slack section. The slack section can be one or more bends, a spiral coil, or a stretchable material. The slack section is effective to inhibit premature detachment of the implantable medical device by inhibiting movement of the distal end of the pull wire when the detachment system is traversing a microcatheter.
Abstract: Disclosed herein are various exemplary systems, devices, and methods for inhibiting premature implant deployment. The delivery member can include a body including a lumen extending therethrough, the body including a compressed distal portion. The delivery member can include a pull wire extending through the lumen. The pull wire can include a pull wire portion that extends radially to abut a sidewall of the body to provide frictional resistance against the body. The pull wire can be positioned to secure the implantable medical device to the delivery member, and the pull wire portion can be effective to inhibit premature detachment of the implant by inhibiting proximal translation of the pull wire due to the frictional resistance provided by the pull wire portion against the body.

Abstract: A patella fracture fixation system includes a peripheral rim bone plate that is configured to be implanted along a parapatellar lateral approach. The bone plate can configured to minimize disruption of blood supply to the patella. The bone plate can be augmented with a Krackow suture pattern to assist in stabilization of a comminuted inferior pole.
Abstract: Endoscopic light refraction imaging techniques are described for configuring a viewing trocar and/or angled endoscope with a light refracting element, such as glass and/or plastic prism for instance. The light refracting element can be utilized in and/or with the viewing trocar to refract (i.e., bend) light passing into the trocar through the trocar's window. As a result, the angled endoscope's field of view can be substantially aligned with the field of view of the trocar's window, thus allowing the angled endoscope and viewing trocar to be used together to create ports in a patient, including initial ports of endoscopic surgical procedures.

Abstract: An aneurysm treatment system can include an embolic implant, a delivery system, and a handle member that are collectively designed so that the combination of the handle member and the delivery system can be used as a deployment apparatus for the embolic implant. A proximal extension of the delivery tube can be placed inside a handle channel of handle member and the handle member can be manipulated to cause the proximal extension to bend to a predetermined angle with respect to the delivery tube, thereby separating the proximal extension from the delivery tube at a disconnection feature between the proximal extension and the delivery tube. The delivery tube includes a lumen having a pull wire that runs through the delivery tube and into the proximal extension. The proximal extension, pull wire, and handle member can be translated proximally in relation to the delivery tube to deploy the embolic implant.

Abstract: An implant including an open end and a pinched end can have a predetermined shape. When in the predetermined shape, the tubular braid can include a proximal inversion and two segments, and the braid can be composed of one or more wires. The first segment can extend from the open end of the tubular braid to the proximal inversion. The second segment can be at least partially surrounded by the open end and extend from the proximal inversion to the pinched end. The tubular braid can also include at least one corrugated fold. The one or more corrugated folds can be located within the first segment, second segment, or both. The corrugated folds can be configured to assist in anchoring the example device when in the implanted shape within an aneurysm in a similar manner to stent struts to help the tubular braid hold its shape.
Abstract: A method for constructing a braided implant delivery system and treating an aneurysm can include attaching a braided implant having a band attached thereto to a delivery tube, positioning the braided implant within the aneurysm, and releasing the band from the delivery tube, thereby releasing the braided implant. The band can include movable extensions that can press into an outer surface of the delivery tube to secure the band to the delivery tube then move away from the outer surface of the delivery tube to release the band. A pull wire can be engaged to the band to secure the band to the delivery tube then be pulled proximally to release the band from the delivery tube. At least a portion of the braid of the braided implant can be positioned within a lumen of the delivery tube.
Abstract: Female polyaxial joints for connecting a strut to a support frame of an external fixation device are described having a ball socket and a ball member. The ball member includes a spherical portion and a ball member shaft extending from the spherical portion. At least one aperture is positioned on the ball member and traverses through at least a portion of the ball member shaft. An internal surface of the ball member shaft may be threaded and configured to receive a threaded connector.

Abstract: Stents generally can include a tubular structure having circumferentially positioned undulating wires that extend over a majority of a length of the stent such that the undulations oscillate circumferentially to define a circumference of the stent. The undulations can wrap over and under adjacent undulations to form an interwoven structure. Additionally, or alternatively, adjacent wires can be joined. Wires forming the stent can be cut from elastic tubing such that each wire has a three-dimensional shape.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a method of surgical repair utilizing a continuous compression staple for an orthopedic injury site having a long bone fracture defining a fracture boundary between a first bone fragment and a second bone fragment. The method can include the steps of aligning the fragments, applying a temporary compressive force to the aligned fragments, inserting a compression staple in a tensioned state into the first and second bone fragments such that it traverses the fracture boundary, releasing tension in the compression staple such that the staple exerts a continuous compressive force to the first and second bone fragments, and securing a neutralization implant to the long bone. The disclosure further includes kits and systems for performing the disclosed surgical methods.
Abstract: A radially compressive implant, which includes a central vertical axis, is configured to transition between a natural shape and an insertion shape. A transition of the implant from the natural shape to the insertion shape facilitates the implant storing energy deliverable radially relative to the central vertical axis. An implant delivery device in an implant engagement position is configured to engage the implant and constrain the implant in the insertion shape. The implant delivery device in an implant release position is configured to release the implant.
