  • Patent number: 11179180
Abstract: A bone fixation system includes a plate body that defines an interior surface that defines at least one hole defining a central axis. The internal surface defines plate threads within the hole. The system includes a bone screw having a shaft extending from head along a central axis, wherein the head has an exterior surface that defines threads that are configured to threadedly engage the plate threads. The plate threads and head threads each have a cross-sectional profile in a respective reference plane extending along the respective central axis. The cross-sectional profiles each comprise roots, crests, and flanks extending therebetween. The roots, crests, and flanks collectively deviate from a reference cross-sectional profile that is V-shaped in the respective reference plane and defines crest reference points at apices at a first side thereof and root reference points at apices at a second side thereof opposite the first side.

  • Patent number: 11166754
Abstract: In one embodiment, a strike instrument that couples to an insertion handle of an intramedullary nail has a shaft that extends along a shaft axis, and an abutment that extends outward relative to the shaft. The abutment is rotationally fixed to the shaft such that the shaft can rotate the abutment between a first orientation, where the abutment can be removed or inserted into the insertion handle, and a second orientation, where the abutment forms an interference with the insertion handle that prevents the abutment from being removed from the handle. The strike instrument includes a strike surface that can transfer an impaction force to the insertion handle, and a lock that engages the insertion handle so as to prevent the abutment from rotating from the second orientation to the first orientation after the abutment is rotated within the insertion handle from the first orientation to the second orientation.

  • Patent number: 11166766
Abstract: A C-arm, or a mobile intensifier device, is one example of a medical imaging device that is based on X-ray technology. Because a C-arm device can display high-resolution X-ray images in real time, a physician can monitor progress at any time during an operation, and thus can take appropriate actions based on the displayed images. Monitoring the images, however, is often challenging during certain procedures, for instance during procedures in which attention must be paid to the patient's anatomy as well as a medical imaging device display. In an example, a surgical instrument assembly includes a processor, a surgical instrument configured to operate on an anatomical structure, and a display coupled to the processor and attached to the surgical instrument. The display can be configured to display visual information comprising X-ray images generated by a medical imaging device.

  • Publication number: 20210338247
Abstract: A double layered braid for treating an aneurysm is provided. The braid can include a first radially expandable segment having a first plurality of wire segments with a first braid wire diameter. The braid can include a second radially expandable segment having a second plurality of wire segments with a second braid wire diameter, the second braid wire diameter being greater than the first braid wire diameter. The first segment can radially expand to form an outer occlusive sack that seals across a neck of the aneurysm. The second segment can radially expand within the outer occlusive sack to form an inner occlusive sack. The greater second braid wire diameter can allow the inner occlusive sack to exert a force against the outer occlusive sack and the walls of the aneurysm. The force can minimize movement of the outer occlusive sack from the neck of the aneurysm.

  • Patent number: 11134992
Abstract: The present invention is directed an anchor assembly for use in spinal fixation to interconnect a longitudinal spinal rod with a patient's vertebra. The anchor assembly preferably includes a bone anchor, a body with a rod-receiving channel, an insert member (preferably a bushing), and a locking cap with a saddle. The anchor assembly preferably enables in-situ assembly where the bone anchor may be secured to the patient's vertebra prior to being received within the body of the bone anchor assembly. Accordingly, the anchor assembly enables a surgeon to implant the bone anchor without the body to maximize visibility and access around the anchoring site. Once the bone anchor has been secured to the patient's vertebra, the body may be snapped onto the bone anchor and a spinal rod may be inserted into the rod-receiving channel.
