  • Patent number: 8782591
Abstract: In one embodiment of the invention, a method of synthesizing physical gates from register transfer logic code for an integrated circuit design is disclosed. The method includes reading a register transfer level (RTL) input file describing an integrated circuit design; parsing and translating the RTL input file into a plurality of Boolean logic equations; translating the plurality of Boolean logic equations into a plurality of logic primitives; placing the plurality of logic primitives into a floorplan of the integrated circuit design, wherein the placement of the plurality of logic primitives defines wire interconnects; and optimizing each of the plurality of Boolean logic equations in response to wire costs and wire timing delays.

  • Patent number: 8780551
Abstract: A chassis-based processing system includes a first set of processing blades mounted in parallel within a card cage and attached to a backplane within a chassis. An air intake plenum allows air to flow into the chassis, and over the first set of processing blades in an optimized manner. A separate processing blade is located in the air intake plenum, and is attached to the backplane. This processing blade may have less restrictive proximity requirements than the first set of processing blades. The processing blade in the plenum is positioned perpendicular to the first set of processing blades. As a result, airflow over the processing blade in the plenum has a different orientation than airflow over the first set of processing blades. An air deflector structure in the plenum deflects some of the air flowing into the plenum onto the processing blade located in the plenum, thereby providing improved cooling.

  • Patent number: 8780230
Abstract: A method to create a faux group by using at least one digital image combined with at least one other digital image is provided. Associated with each digital image is data that is linked, which identifies the image and biographical data elements associated with the subject appearing in the image. From the digital images and linked data, a faux group image is created. On the faux group image, biographical data elements such as names or other identifiers are optionally displayed. If displayed, each biographical data element is linked to the associated individual digital image in the order it appears. Any rearrangement, movement or adjustment to either the digital image or associated biographical data element in the faux group image causes the digital image and biographical data element to be updated relative to all of the other digital images and biographical data element in the order that the subject of each individual digital image appears.

  • Patent number: 8781289
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein provide systems and methods for performing video recorder failover. In a particular embodiment, a system includes a first Network Video Recorder (NVR) configured to receive a video stream and record the video stream to a first long-term storage. The system further includes a second NVR configured to receive the video stream and temporarily stores an amount of the video stream in temporary storage. In response to a detection of a failure of the first NVR, the second NVR is configured to record the video stream to the second long-term storage and transfer at least a portion of the video stream stored in the temporary storage corresponding to the amount of time between detection of the failure and when the second NVR began recording the video stream to the second long-term storage.

  • Patent number: 8781635
Abstract: A method and apparatus capable of monitoring performance of a process and of the condition of equipment units effecting such process is disclosed. A process model predicated upon mass and energy balancing is developed on the basis of a plurality of generally nonlinear models of the equipment units. At least one or more of such equipment models are characterized by one or more adjustable maintenance parameters. Data relating to mass and energy transfer within the process is collected and is reconciled with the mass and energy characteristics of the process predicted by the model. The condition of the equipment units and process performance may then be inferred by monitoring the values of the maintenance parameters over successive data reconciliation operations.

  • Patent number: 8776738
Abstract: A lost motion engine valve actuation system and method of actuating an engine valve are disclosed. The system may comprise a valve train element, a pivoting lever, a control piston, and a hydraulic circuit. The pivoting lever may include a first end for contacting the control piston, a second end for transmitting motion to a valve stem and a means for contacting a valve train element. The amount of lost motion provided by the system may be selected by varying the position of the control piston relative to the pivoting lever. Variation of the control piston position may be carried out by placing the control piston in hydraulic communication with a control trigger valve and one or more accumulators. Actuation of the trigger valve releases hydraulic fluid allowing for adjustment of the control piston position. Means for limiting valve seating velocity, filling the hydraulic circuit upon engine start up, and mechanically locking the control piston/lever for a fixed level of valve actuation are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8782050
Abstract: A customized, specialty-oriented database and index. of a subject matter area and methods for constructing and using such a database are provided. Selection and indexing of articles is done by experts in the topic with which the database is concerned. As a result, articles are indexed in a manner that allows facile, rapid retrieval of highly relevant articles with few or no false positives with much reduced database maintenance cost through frugal limitation of number of documents in the database, number of terms in a Master Index, and number of codes assigned to each document. A thesaurus allows indexing and search in accordance with terminology familiar to different anticipated groups of users (e.g. doctors, patients, nurses, technicians, and the like). Key articles collections and rapid access to documents therein are also provided. Additional classifications may be applied to articles or documents and searched as an additional search criterion such as a potential use.

  • Patent number: 8781566
Abstract: A system for the detection of cardiac events occurring in a human patient is disclosed to include at least two electrodes for obtaining an electrical signal from a patient's heart. At least two electrodes are included in the system for obtaining an electrical signal from a patient's heart. An electrical signal processor is electrically coupled to the electrodes for processing the electrical signal. The system determines the presence of a cardiovascular condition by applying a sliding scale rule to heart signal feature values. When the cardiovascular condition is ischemia, the ST segment may be analyzed. A sliding scale is applied to ST segment shifts such that when the magnitudes of ST segment shifts are relatively small, a larger number of beats is required to detect ischemia compared to the case when the magnitudes of ST shifts are large.
