Patent number: 8776738Abstract: A lost motion engine valve actuation system and method of actuating an engine valve are disclosed. The system may comprise a valve train element, a pivoting lever, a control piston, and a hydraulic circuit. The pivoting lever may include a first end for contacting the control piston, a second end for transmitting motion to a valve stem and a means for contacting a valve train element. The amount of lost motion provided by the system may be selected by varying the position of the control piston relative to the pivoting lever. Variation of the control piston position may be carried out by placing the control piston in hydraulic communication with a control trigger valve and one or more accumulators. Actuation of the trigger valve releases hydraulic fluid allowing for adjustment of the control piston position. Means for limiting valve seating velocity, filling the hydraulic circuit upon engine start up, and mechanically locking the control piston/lever for a fixed level of valve actuation are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2013Date of Patent: July 15, 2014Assignee: Jacobs Vehicle Systems, IncInventors: Joesph M. Patent number: 8781566Abstract: A system for the detection of cardiac events occurring in a human patient is disclosed to include at least two electrodes for obtaining an electrical signal from a patient's heart. At least two electrodes are included in the system for obtaining an electrical signal from a patient's heart. An electrical signal processor is electrically coupled to the electrodes for processing the electrical signal. The system determines the presence of a cardiovascular condition by applying a sliding scale rule to heart signal feature values. When the cardiovascular condition is ischemia, the ST segment may be analyzed. A sliding scale is applied to ST segment shifts such that when the magnitudes of ST segment shifts are relatively small, a larger number of beats is required to detect ischemia compared to the case when the magnitudes of ST shifts are large.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 2008Date of Patent: July 15, 2014Assignee: Angel Medical Systems, Inc.Inventors: Michael Sasha John, David R. Patent number: 8779328Abstract: Methods for making devices include providing a tubular member to be formed into a device, placing a removable sacrificial block material in the lumen of the tubular member and laser cutting the tubular member. A tubular member made from nickel-titanium alloy can be tightly adhered to a sacrificial sleeve utilizing the phase changes associated with nickel-titanium. A mandrel which includes an enlarged diameter section causes the workpiece to expand slightly within its elastic deformation range to dislodge islands from the workpiece. Such a mandrel could be formed from a tubular member which has a central lumen that can be used to deliver a pressurized medium to “blast” islands from the workpiece.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 2010Date of Patent: July 15, 2014Assignee: Abbott Cardiovascular Systems Inc.Inventors: Boris Anukhin, Larry Baughman, Pamela A. Patent number: 8781851Abstract: A dynamic claims adjudication system is provided that implements a dynamic claims adjudication process to provide flexible determination of the adjudication rule set to be used to adjudicate a claim for a particular prescription drug regardless of the mandates of the formulary and the rigidity of the tier into which the drug is placed on the formulary. The claims adjudication system and corresponding methods dynamically determine the adjudication rule set to be used to adjudicate a claim based on an analysis of criteria and identification of a tier changing criteria. Accordingly, the rigidity of conventional formulary based claims adjudication is eliminated in favor of dynamic and flexible real time claims adjudication.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 2010Date of Patent: July 15, 2014Assignee: Medimpact Healthcare Systems, Inc.Inventors: Lori L.
