Publication number: 20140171112Abstract: A technique to allow a server such as a location server to throttle concurrent or closely timed location requests for the position of a given wireless device such that within a certain time period preferably only one location request will be initiated to the positioning engine and the remaining closely-timed location requests will be buffered or cached. When a position for the given wireless device is returned per the outstanding location request, then the retrieved position will be used to respond to each of the buffered location requests. Thus, a plurality of location requests are satisfied with a single request to the positioning engine. By optimizing the use of cached position requests, throttling of location requests per the invention reduces network traffic significantly, increases the efficiency of a positioning server (therefore reducing business cost), and provides for an improved grade or quality of location based services in general.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 24, 2014Publication date: June 19, 2014Applicant: TeleCommunication Systems, Inc.Inventors: Yinjun Zhu, Gordon John Hines, Victor Burton, Hsin-Chih Liao

Publication number: 20140168445Abstract: Various techniques are provided for systems and methods to process images to reduce consumption of an available output dynamic range by the sky in images. For example, according to one or more embodiments of the disclosure, a region or area in images that may correspond to the sky may be identified based on the location of the horizon in the images. A distribution of irradiance levels in the identified sky region may be analyzed to determine a dynamic range attributable to the sky region. A transfer function that compresses the dynamic range attributable to the sky region may be generated and applied so that the sky in the images may be suppressed, thereby advantageously preserving more dynamic range for terrestrial objects and other objects of interest in the images.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2013Publication date: June 19, 2014Applicant: FLIR Systems, Inc.Inventors: Nicholas Högasten, Mark Nussmeier, Eric A. SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR REAL-TIME ENDPOINT APPLICATION FLOW CONTROL WITH NETWORK STRUCTURE COMPONENT
Publication number: 20140173127Abstract: The present solution is directed towards systems and methods to more efficiently control a flow of a data stream traversing at least one intermediary on a network between a client and a server. A sender transmits a first message, comprising a first value of a bandwidth between the first intermediary and a second intermediary determined by the sender, to a first intermediary. The first intermediary establishes a next value of the bandwidth between the first intermediary and the second intermediary. The sender receives from the first intermediary responsive to the first message a second message comprising the established next value of the bandwidth between the first intermediary and the second intermediary. A data transfer manager of the sender, responsive to the second message determines a size of a portion of data queued for transmission to transmit to the first intermediary and a time for transmitting the portion of data queued.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 14, 2013Publication date: June 19, 2014Applicant: Citrix Systems, Inc.Inventors: Allen R.
