Patent number: 9923970Abstract: The present disclosure provides methods and systems for multicast collaborative erasure encoding and methods and systems for distributed parity protection. One embodiment relates to a method of multicast collaborative erasure encoding of a chunk stored in a distributed object storage cluster. A roll-call request is multicast to every storage server in a negotiating group for the chunk. Roll-call inventory responses are generated and multicast by every storage server in the negotiating group. The roll-call inventory responses are collected by every storage server in the negotiating group from other storage servers in the negotiating group to form a set of roll-call inventory responses. A logical evaluation of the set of roll-call inventory responses may then be performed by every storage server in the negotiating group. Other embodiments, aspects and features are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 2015Date of Patent: March 20, 2018Assignee: Nexenta Systems, Inc.Inventors: Caitlin Bestler, Alexander Aizman, Robert E. Patent number: 9922341Abstract: The television program scheduling system receives from one or more published data sources, historical audience data for previous telecasts of the shows on one or more television networks, and calibrates a model for audience rating estimation based on the historical audience data. The calibrated model for audience rating estimation may be utilized to generate estimates or projections of audience in the future. The television program scheduling system may generate an optimal schedule assignment of the shows to time periods that maximizes total resulting estimated audience based on the calibrated model for audience rating estimation. The generation utilizes a time expanded network in which each node represents an assignment of a show to a specific time period, with a specific stacking, and preceded by a lead-in show, and a feasible transition between two nodes represents a valid transition between two shows.Type: GrantFiled: September 1, 2015Date of Patent: March 20, 2018Assignee: TURNER BROADCASTING SYSTEM, INC.Inventors: Wassim Samir Chaar, José Antonio Carbajal Orozco, Peter Alexander Williams

Patent number: 9919165Abstract: Various embodiments disclose systems and methods for tracking regions (e.g., tumor locations) within living organisms. Some embodiments provide real-time, highly accurate, low latency measurements of tumor location even as the tumor moves with internal body motions. Such measurements may be suitable for closed-loop radiation delivery applications where radiation therapy may be continuously guided to the tumor site even as the tumor moves. Particularly, the system may dynamically identify planned to actual fiducial correspondences by iterating through the possible assignment permutations. A successful permutation may be recorded and used to orient the patient during follow up treatment sessions.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2014Date of Patent: March 20, 2018Assignee: Varian Medical Systems, Inc.Inventors: Edward Vertatschitsch, Raymond Kraft, Joseph Schumm, Andrea Morgan

Patent number: 9919875Abstract: A motorized drum having a drum shell with a motor therein, the motor having a stationary shaft, stator windings, and a stator support structure that is affixed to the stationary shaft. A rotor rotates coaxially around the stator, and a cycloidal reducer has an output that rotates at a reduced rate. The reducer output is rotationally fixed to, and is disposed within, the drum shell. An input gear of the reducer received a hollow eccentric input shaft, and is urged into eccentric motion as the input shaft rotates. The output gear urges the drum shell into rotation at same rate of rotation as the output gear. An harmonic drive speed reducer that has an input shaft provides rotatory motion to a wave generator that is disposed against a flexible splined member. The flexible splined member engages a rigid circular spline member at two radially opposed zones. Induction and permanent magnet forms of operation are used.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 2012Date of Patent: March 20, 2018Assignee: Mol Belting Systems, Inc.Inventors: Johan H. Publication number: 20180075961Abstract: A novel and useful degauss circuit for use with electromagnetic door locks. The door lock circuit is configured to provide a constant current to the electromagnetic coil load. A pulse width modulation (PWM) controller varies the frequency and/or duty cycle to a switch in series with the coil. Coil current feedback is used to adjust the PWM frequency and/or duty cycle so as to maintain the current through the coil at a certain level to maintain a desired holding force on the door lock. A degauss circuit inline with the current flowing through the coil is provided. When triggered either in an uncontrolled or controlled manner, a series RLC circuit that includes the coil inductance and resistance causes ringing to occur whereby the coil current reverses direction with sufficient amplitude and duration to degauss the coil.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 8, 2017Publication date: March 15, 2018Applicant: Hanchett Entry Systems, Inc.Inventors: Brett L. Publication number: 20180076160Abstract: A semiconductor structure includes an electrically conductive structure formed upon an uppermost organic layer of a semiconductor substrate. A capping layer is formed upon the uppermost organic layer covering the electrically conductive structure. A maskless selective removal lasering technique ejects portions of the capping layer while retaining the portion of the capping layer covering the electrically conductive structure. Portions of the capping layer are ejected from the uppermost organic layer by a shockwave as a result of the laser beam vaporizing the uppermost organic layer of the semiconductor substrate. Portions of the capping layer contacting the electrically conductive structure are retained by the conductive structure dissipating heat from the laser that would otherwise vaporize the uppermost organic layer of the semiconductor substrate.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 15, 2017Publication date: March 15, 2018Applicant: SUSS MicroTec Photonic Systems Inc.Inventors: Brian M. Patent number: 9917635Abstract: Signals of data streams for transmission to user equipment (UE) in spoke-and-hub configurations will utilize multiple transponders of satellites. Radiation patterns from ground terminals with distributed apertures feature orthogonal beams (OB). A tracking OB beam from a moving platform dynamically shall autonomously be formed as a shaped beam by a digital-beam-forming (DBF) network with a peak to a desired satellite, and nulls to undesired satellites to minimize mutual interferences among multiple satellite spatially. Ground hubs and mobile terminals feature “coherent” bandwidth aggregating capability from multiple available but non-contiguous slices of frequency slots in many transponders by wavefront multiplexing/demultiplexing (WF muxing/demuxing) techniques. These individual frequency slots must be dynamically selected, calibrated and equalized continuously in receivers via embedded probing signals as a part of WF muxing/demuxing techniques.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 2014Date of Patent: March 13, 2018Assignee: Spatial Digital Systems, Inc.Inventor: Donald C.
