  • Patent number: 7858031
Abstract: An indicator for enabling an analytical instrument to positively detect the presence of a vial in respective vial-receiving rack position regardless of whether the vial is oriented in a manner necessary for a code reader to read a code printed on the vial. Translation of a leaf spring upon insertion of a vial into a rack position causes a flag to obscure a code provided adjacent the rack position. An instrument into which the rack is installed interprets the failure of the code reader to detect this code as positive indication that a vial is disposed within the respective rack position.

  • Patent number: 7858113
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for improving the permeability of the human skin in order to transdermally supply active substances, permeability being improved by means of a plaster that is transparent in at least some areas, contains active substance, and is flexible in at least some areas, and at least one external light source. According to said method, light that is emitted at least for a short period of time by an external light source and normally impinges at least some areas of the plaster is focused onto the stratum corneum of the skin with the aid of a plurality of individual focusing lenses which are integrated into the plaster so as to bring about changes in the stratum corneum, said changes improving the permeability of the skin. The inventive method for improving the permeability of the human skin allows for reproducible permeability for specific active substances.

Abstract: The invention relates to a web-form packaging material which comprises at least one layer, comprising a packaging material surface, of a sealable material, to a packaging unit with a transdermal therapeutic system and with a packaging material of this kind, and also to a process for producing a packaging unit. For this purpose, at least the abovementioned surface of the packaging material has a multiplicity of recesses and/or a multiplicity of non-recessed regions. The distance between two adjacent recesses and/or the distance between two adjacent non-recessed regions is less than five times the packaging material thickness. Moreover, the depth of the recesses is not less than 1.2 nanometers and not more than 95% of the packaging material thickness. With the present invention, the sticking of an adhesive on the inner face of the packaging material is effectively prevented.

  • Publication number: 20100320762
Abstract: A method for controlling a converter of a wind energy installation. The converter is connected to the rotor of a doubly-fed asynchronous generator in order to feed electrical power into an electrical grid and comprises a generator-side inverter, a grid-side inverter, and at least one converter regulator for regulating and/or controlling current output from at least one of the inverters to the doubly-fed asynchronous generator and/or to the electrical grid. The method includes detecting a change in output real power, determining whether the detected change satisfies a predefined condition, and changing a nominal value of reactive power to be output in an opposite sense to a change in real power at the grid-side inverter and in a same sense as the generator-side inverter when the predefined condition is satisfied.

  • Patent number: 7850421
Abstract: A stator arrangement, or distributor, for a turbine machine is disclosed which includes a guide blade. The blade shaft is supported to be able to pivot around the pivot axis, with a part which is to be guided being situated to the outside. The pivoting device contains a setting ring which is located outside a flow channel and which can be pivoted around the turbine axis, and adjusting levers which transmit torque from the setting ring to the blade shaft of each guide blade. The adjusting lever is slipped with one end onto the blade shaft. The other end can be configured as a ball head, the adjusting levers being guided in a groove of the setting ring. The surface which acts on the ball head of the adjusting lever for transmission of torque from the setting ring to the blade shaft of each guide blade can be configured as a ball socket. Exemplary embodiments can yield a uniform large-area pressure distribution by which the wear of the parts which press on one another can be distinctly reduced.

  • Patent number: 7850617
Abstract: From the global end-diastolic volume GEDV and the global ejection fraction GEF the patient monitor (4) determines a corrected global end-diastolic volume cGEDV according to cGEDV=GEDV/ƒ(GEF) which is used as a novel parameter for volume responsiveness of the patient (3). In the above formula, f(GEF) is a correction function depending on global ejection fraction GEF. Further, from the right ventricular end-diastolic volume RVEDV and the right ventricular ejection fraction RVEF the patient monitor (4) determines a corrected right ventricular end-diastolic volume cRVEDV according to cRVEDV=RVEDV1f(RVEF) which is used as another novel parameter for volume responsiveness of the patient (3). In the above formula, f(RVEF) is a correction function depending on right ventricular ejection fraction RVEF.

  • Publication number: 20100312409
Abstract: A wind park includes at least two wind energy systems each comprising a generator and converter for generating electrical energy and a control system, a park master designed for active and idle power control that transmits a control signal for idle power via a communications network to the wind energy systems, and a connection network feeding generated electrical energy into a grid. The wind energy system can include an idle power regulator and a supplementary regulator, the control signals of each of which are linked together. Thus, a combination of idle power and voltage regulation is achieved that combines the advantages of each. Accordingly, the wind park can have high dynamic and stability notwithstanding erratic changes in the grid.

  • Patent number: 7845900
Abstract: A discharge region of a centrifugal compressor is provided. A scroll casing is asymmetrically formed in a circumferential direction and configured to be positioned in different angular positions in the circumferential direction. A vaned diffuser is configured to be positioned in different angular positions in the circumferential direction. The vaned diffuser includes a plurality of guide elements configured to be arranged in a distributed manner in the circumferential direction. Means are provided for positioning the vaned diffuser with regard to an angular position of the asymmetrically formed scroll casing. An angular spacing of two guide elements which are arranged adjacently to each other differs from an angular spacing of two other guide elements which are arranged adjacently to each other. By varying the angular spacings between two adjacent guide vanes of a diffuser along the circumference, the resonance vibration of the compressor can be reduced.

  • Publication number: 20100283247
Abstract: A wind energy installation control device includes a wind rotor, a generator driven by the wind rotor, a torque control unit configured to control a torque of the generator, and a control system. The control system includes a detector configured to identify a grid dip and an end of the grid dip, a residual torque transmitter configured to provide a preset value for a torque of the generator after identification of the grid dip, and an initializer configured to initialize a component of the torque control unit at the preset value. Accordingly, upon return of grid power after a grid dip, the vibration behaviour of a wind power system can be significantly improved. Overload of a drive train upon return of grid voltage can thus be reduced.

  • Patent number: 7828906
Abstract: Depending on the actual operating situation and the composition of the fuels used for driving the internal combustion engine, contamination of the moving blades, of the guide device and of the turbine casing parts occurs sooner or later in the exhaust gas turbine. According to the invention, a small quantity of cleaning fluid is fed continuously or cyclically into the exhaust gas flow of an exhaust gas turbine and is directed onto the components to be cleaned. The small quantity of cleaning fluid can be fed in with unchanged operation of the internal combustion engine, such that the exhaust gas turbine can be cleaned or kept clean within the entire operating range of the internal combustion engine. Fluctuations in the power output of the internal combustion engine on account of requisite cleaning of the exhaust gas turbine therefore do not occur. Furthermore, the formation of thermostress cracks in the critical turbine casing parts is largely avoided.
