  • Patent number: 4804260
Abstract: A temple for a pair of eyeglasses with a longitudinal shaft and a temple end piece exhibits a telescoping connection between a first segment of the temple end piece and the shaft end facing this temple end piece. The connection further comprises a fixation device, which fixes or holds the shaft and end piece together. Either of the opposed walls of the telescoping connection are designed to be essentially cylindrical. Preferably, numerous ribs protrude radially from the other wall with the ribs running in the axial direction of the connection and finally holding the telescoping connection together. On account of this, the angle of the temple end piece with respect to the hinge on the temle shaft can be adjusted during assembly and then a connection is created between the temple end piece and the shaft which is resistant to rotational as well as pulling forces.

  • Patent number: 4520948
Abstract: A flat, rectangular box 4 formed of cardboard contains a bag 18 of multi-layered foil material. A tube 24, which is disposed in the interior of the box in the transport condition of the package and can be removed from the box interior through an opening 10 which is closed by a tear-off strip, which is connected in liquid-tight manner to the bag 18 by a connecting piece. An outlet 36 provided at the free end of the tube is controlled by a pressure relief valve, which is provided in the tube and opens in the direction of the outlet. The walls of the narrow sides of the box each have a longitudinal fold along which these walls can fold outwards when the broad sides of the box are pressed together in order to empty the bag filled with a fluid, e.g. coffee extract. The one-way package is particularly suitable for use in a beverage vending machine in place of the storage containers employed until now.

  • Patent number: 4504394
Abstract: A process for the treatment of organic fall-out products with separation of noxious matter, in particular heavy metals, wherein the organic fall-out products are submitted to an aerobic pretreatment, subsequently to a treatment for disintegrating the cells and wherein the valuable and noxious substances contained in said cells, laid bare by said disintegrating treatment, are separated and the noxious matter eliminated, and the thus obtained solution, free from noxious matter, is submitted to a treatment for recovering the valuable substances contained therein, in particular proteins to be used as forage or fertilizers or the like. This is an economic process for obtaining superior substances, in particular proteins, which are free from noxious matter such as heavy metals, from organic fall-out products such as sewage water or sludge.

  • Patent number: 4361757
Abstract: An imitation-proof card-like data carrier which permits light to pass through a large number of light-conducting elements each having a light-admitting inlet portion, a light-discharging outlet portion which is laterally offset relative to the inlet portion, and a light-conducting intermediate portion with two reflecting surfaces, one adjacent to the inlet portion and the other adjacent to the outlet portion. The information which is stored in or denoted by an element is characterized by the distance beween the inlet and outlet portions as well as on the inclination of that reflecting surface which directs light into the outlet portion. The light rays issuing from the outlet portions of the elements impinge upon selected photodiodes of an array of photodiodes in an apparatus into which the data carrier is inserted to ascertain the genuineness thereof, to ascertain the identity of the bearer, to cancel certain elements if each element represents a sum of money and/or for other purposes.

  • Patent number: 4075765
Abstract: A method and apparatus for drying separate units of moist fibrous material. The method may include the steps of flowing under a pressure greater than one atmosphere in a closed circuit a gaseous medium through both units of material, such that the gaseous exhaust from one unit is the gaseous intake of another unit, and heating the gaseous medium subsequent to its passage through the units of fibrous material by compressing the gaseous medium. The apparatus may include two containers each of which has a support for the fibrous material to be dried, the material being positioned on the support to divide the interior of each of said containers into an inner and an outer chamber which communicate with each other via the material, and a circulation system having a gaseous drying medium therein.
