  • Patent number: 10862712
Abstract: In various example embodiments, a battery-assisted PoE powered device is provided that includes a local battery pack for providing a burst of power to a device load in excess of the continuous power available via PoE. A charger/path controller charges the local battery pack during periods of time when the device load consumes less power than available via PoE (e.g., consumes less than the 71W of guaranteed continuous power under IEEE 802.3bt). During periods of time when the device load demands more power than available via PoE (e.g., when peak power is demanded by an audio speaker, when inrush occurs in a motor, or for various types of intermittent devices when they are activated) the charger/path controller discharges the battery pack, to drive the device load with a combination of PoE and battery power.

  • Patent number: 10863267
Abstract: Example techniques are provided for controlling volume of A/V devices using an improved volume control. The volume control may be implemented as a slider, where the sliding element is temporarily slid in response to user input (e.g., touched and dragged by the user), but then automatically “snaps” back to the center of the slider's range when the user input ends (e.g., is released by the user). Movement of the element from the center is interpreted as a relative volume adjustment, with the rate of volume change being proportional to the distance between the center of the range and the temporary position of the element. An indicator is provided indicating the rate, to provide user feedback. The volume control may be utilized as a master volume control in a home automation system.

  • Patent number: 10860767
Abstract: Various embodiments describe performing a transient simulation of circuits that have mutual inductors. In particular, some embodiments perform a transient simulation on a circuit model by removing and approximating the effects of one or more entries of a matrix in the circuit model, where the matrix relates to inductors or mutual inductors of the circuit. In doing so, such embodiments can render the matrix more sparse than before which, in turn, can reduce the time spent during the transient simulation to solve equations of the circuit model.

  • Patent number: 10857392
Abstract: To overcome the difficulties inherent in conventional proton therapy systems, new techniques are described herein for synchronizing the application of proton radiation with the periodic movement of a target area. In an embodiment, a method is provided that combines multiple rescans of a spot scanning proton beam while monitoring the periodic motion of the target area, and aligning the applications of the proton beam with parameters of the periodic motion. For example, the direction(s) and frequency of the periodic motion may be monitored, and the timing, dose rate, and/or scanning direction and spot sequence of the beam can be adjusted to align with phases in the periodic motion.

  • Patent number: 10860426
Abstract: The illustrative storage management system uses snapshot technologies and performs block-level analysis thereof and to synthesize full backups of a database, regardless of the database management system (DBMS) and content of the database and without involving native DBMS utilities. Synthetic full copies are created efficiently and use network transport resources sparingly. Successive snapshots of the database may be hardware snapshots and/or software snapshots. The illustrative storage management system tracks which data blocks in the database change over time after a baseline full copy is saved to secondary storage. Only the changed blocks are subsequently moved to secondary storage as incremental backups and are indexed for future reference. A synthetic full backup of the database, at a given point in time, may be created by synthesizing the original full backup with changed blocks from any number of later incremental backups.

  • Patent number: 10860756
Abstract: A method includes finding, for a discretized curve comprising multiple segments, first and second segments that are closer than a threshold. The method includes determining an intersection point of the first segment and the second segment, the intersection point associated with a first parameter value for the first segment and a second parameter value for the second segment, determining an error value as a distance between a first point in the parametric curve corresponding to the first parameter value and a second point in the parametric curve corresponding to the second parameter value, and selecting the intersection point when the error value is smaller than a precision tolerance. The method includes transforming the discretized curve by removing at least a segment between the first segment and the second segment, and providing the discretized curve to manufacture a mask for reproducing the feature in the integrated circuit.
