Abstract: Systems and methods can implement one or more intelligent caching algorithms that reduce wear on the SSD and/or to improve caching performance. Such algorithms can improve storage utilization and I/O efficiency by taking into account the write-wearing limitations of the SSD. Accordingly, the systems and methods can cache to the SSD while avoiding writing too frequently to the SSD to increase or attempt to increase the lifespan of the SSD. The systems and methods may, for instance, write data to the SSD once that data has been read from the hard disk or memory multiple times to avoid or attempt to avoid writing data that has been read only once. The systems and methods may also write large chunks of data to the SSD at once instead of a single unit of data at a time. Further, the systems and methods can write to the SSD in a circular fashion.

Abstract: Apparatus, systems, methods and articles are described to prepare and track medications and medication containers as they are prepared, administered to patients and, in some cases, disposed of. Information such as medication type, concentration, and volume are associated with medication containers during preparation and this information can later be consumed/utilized when administering the medication from a container to a patient. Disposing of any remaining medication can also be tracked.

Abstract: A technique operates a local application running on a mobile device (e.g., a smart phone, a tablet, a personal digital assistant, etc.). The technique involves receiving, by processing circuitry of the mobile device, native mouse input from a hardware mouse communicating with the mobile device. The native mouse input is received in response to user operation of the hardware mouse. The technique further involves translating, by the processing circuitry, the native mouse input into translated touchscreen input. The technique further involves providing, by the processing circuitry, the translated touchscreen input to the local application running on the mobile device to control operation of the local application. With the availability of such a hardware mouse, the mobile device is better suited for running local applications that may require precise user input such as spreadsheets, computer-aided design (CAD) tools, games, and so on.

Abstract: The present specification discloses methods for inspecting an object. The method includes scanning an object in a two-step process. In the primary scan, a truck or cargo container (container) is completely scanned with a fan beam radiation, the transmitted radiation is measured with an array of detectors, and the transmission information and optionally the fission signatures are analyzed to determine the presence of high-density, high-Z and fissionable materials. If the container alarms in one or more areas, the areas are subjected to a secondary scan. This is done by precisely repositioning the container to the location of the suspect areas, adjusting the scanning system to focus on the suspect areas, performing a stationary irradiation of the areas, and analyzing the measured feature signatures to clear or confirm the presence of SNM.

Abstract: Various embodiments implement an electronic design with one or more electrical analyses or simulations. Pre-layout and/or post-layout design data of an electronic design or a portion thereof may be identified at a physical design implementation module. A first stage analysis may be performed on the electronic design or the portion thereof at least by computing electrical characteristics with a reduced representation in the electronic design or the portion thereof. Electrical behavior of the electronic design or the portion thereof may be generated at least by performing a second stage analysis on the electronic design or the portion thereof with one or more adjusted electrical characteristics. The electronic design or the portion thereof may then be implemented based in part or in whole upon the one or more electrical analyses or simulations.

Abstract: A distributed multi-function secure system for verifiable signer authentication having a personal private key stored in a secure storage of a mobile device where the mobile device connects to a fragmented distributed signing engine by a secure protocol and is issued a signer certificate from a circle of trust certificate server to securely electronically sign documents.
Abstract: A method of recovering performance of an air separation module (ASM) is described. A recovery system includes an air source providing inlet air, a filter to output clean air and a heater heating the air. The ASM is coupled to the system and comprises a hollow fiber membrane to output nitrogen enriched air (NEA) exhaust. The method comprises operating the system with the air source and heater in a default condition; measuring an initial purity of NEA exhaust; adjusting the air source and/or heater based on the initial purity; operating the system after adjusting the air source and/or heater; returning the air source and heater to the default condition; measuring a recovered purity of NEA exhaust; and determining whether the recovered purity is within tolerance. If the recovered purity is within tolerance, system operation is terminated. If the recovered purity is not within tolerance, the steps are repeated.
Abstract: A preformed web and a method of producing dunnage units from the preformed web. The web is an elongate flattened thermoplastic tube having an inflation edge and an opposite edge. The tube includes spaced transverse seals that define sides of pouches. In one embodiment, the web is configured such that a gap forms between each pair of adjacent pouches when the pouches are inflated. In one embodiment, an inflation edge of the web comprises a frangible connection that allows the inflation edge to be broken by an unsharpened object.
Abstract: A wave generator of a strain wave gearing uses a plurality of solid displacement elements to flex a flexible externally toothed gear into a non-circular shape and partially mesh the externally toothed with a rigid internally toothed gear. The solid displacement elements are obtained by curving a monomorphic or bimorphic type rectangular plate-shaped element into an arc shape and can be deformed from an arc shape to a semispherical shape by energization, the semicircular shape having a smaller radius than the arc radius of the arc shape. A wave generator can be realized, which can bear a large load torque by utilizing changes in rigidity, deformation amount, and deformation force associated with the deformation of the solid displacement elements.
Abstract: The technology disclosed relates to refined survey of Internet infrastructures. A pattern of measurements is disclosed that can improve data collection by increasing the number of measurements per survey session according to a function described in areas that have few measurements, and decreasing the average number of measurements per session in heavily measured areas. These are new problems that arise from implementation of technology developed by these inventors and their colleagues.
