    Abstract: Embodiments of the invention generally provide a heat engine system, a method for generating electricity, and an algorithm for controlling the heat engine system which are configured to efficiently transform thermal energy of a waste heat stream into electricity. In one embodiment, the heat engine system utilizes a working fluid (e.g., sc-CO2) within a working fluid circuit for absorbing the thermal energy that is transformed to mechanical energy by a turbine and electrical energy by a generator. The heat engine system further contains a control system operatively connected to the working fluid circuit and enabled to monitor and control parameters of the heat engine system by manipulating a power turbine throttle valve to adjust the flow of the working fluid. A control algorithm containing multiple system controllers may be utilized by the control system to adjust the power turbine throttle valve while maximizing efficiency of the heat engine system.

    Abstract: A TCP/IP packet decoder fetches, from a packet received via a satellite communication system, IP version information, which is provided to version comparators. When a version comparator indicates a match, protocol information is provided to a TCP comparator. If the TCP comparator determines that the packet is a TCP data packet, a flag is raised causing generation of a TCP acknowledgment for transmission to a source device. In another embodiment, a layer 3 switch or router includes a TCP hardware filter to determine whether the received packet is a TCP data packet, thereby causing the TCP data packet to be mirrored for transmission to a modem. In a third embodiment, a TCP hardware filter, provides an indication to a layer 2 switch when a TCP data packet is received causing the TCP data packet to be mirrored for transmission to a modem, which generates and transmits a TCP acknowledgment.

A utilization metric reflecting a bandwidth utilization by one of the remote terminals for data transmissions over the channel is determined. An updated rate for bandwidth allocations to the one terminal is determined based on the utilization metric for the terminal, a target bandwidth utilization and tolerance range for the one terminal, and the maximum rate for the data allocations to each of the remote terminals. The updated rate for the bandwidth allocations to the one terminal is applied to subsequent bandwidth allocations for the one terminal.

When deployed in an underground vault, vault water flows through the outer filter, the outer structure, the outer portion of the media liner (if present), the filtering media, the inner portion of the media liner (if present), and the inner structure into the inner cavity from where the pump moves the filtered water out of the vault. The outer filter and/or the media liner may have a lipophobic, hydrophilic material that allows water to pass while blocking lipids without having the lipids adhere to the material.

In one implementation, a method includes partitioning a satellite network into a first partition including a plurality of terminals and a plurality of inroute frequency channels (IFCs); instructing the plurality of terminals of the partition to measure the SINR of the plurality of IFCs; processing the plurality of SINR measurements to compute normalized IFC measurements for each of the plurality of terminals; processing the normalized IFC measurements for each terminal to compute final calibrated IFC SINR offsets for each IFC of the partition; and normalizing the final calibrated IFC SINR offsets with respect to a lowest SINR offset IFC. The normalized final calibration offsets may be made available to each of the satellite terminals. During subsequent operation, the satellite terminals may consider the amount of interference present in an IFC before switching to the channel.
