  • Patent number: 7653816
Abstract: A method is provided to handle an electronic mail message such that the receiver of the e-mail message can verify the integrity of the message. A request is provided from a sender's side to a service. The request includes information regarding the e-mail message. The service processes at least a portion of the request to generate a result. For example, the service may encrypt the portion of the request, according to a public/private key encryption scheme, to generate a digital signature as the result. The service provides the result to the sender's side. At the sender's side, the result is incorporated into the e-mail message and the result-incorporated message is transmitted via an e-mail system. At the receiver's side, the result-incorporated e-mail message is processed to assess the integrity of the received e-mail message.

  • Patent number: 7652481
Abstract: A leak in a membrane on top of a horizontal roof deck is located by applying conductive wires on the membrane underneath the aggregate in a grid pattern. A measuring and switching circuit generates voltage having a positive attached to the roof deck and a negative attached to the wires. The circuit has a relay for each wire which can be switched between a current sensor system and the negative potential. The sensor system is arranged to sense at each of the wires in turn the current flowing from the roof deck through any leak in the membrane to the wire. A microprocessor operates the relays in turn to connect all the other wires to the negative as a shield while each wire is sensed. From the output of the grid the changes in current in the x and y directions are analyzed to locate the leak in the membrane.

  • Patent number: 7650055
Abstract: An environmentally sealed closure, such as a terminal for terminated ends of fiber optic cables, includes a housing having a wall defining an interior volume. A floating sealing assembly is provided including a first plate, a seal member and a second plate arranged in a stack within the interior volume. The seal member has an outer sealing edge for contacting the wall of the housing, which may be straight and/or chamfered. Fiber optic cables extend through the sealing assembly so that the terminated ends are within the splice area. The floating sealing assembly is compressed so as to place the outer sealing edge of the seal member in sealing contact with the wall of the housing. When a pressure differential exists between the splice area and the outside of the housing only one of the first or second plates moves along the longitudinal axis to further compress the seal member and increase sealing between the outer sealing edge and the housing wall.

  • Patent number: 7644734
Abstract: The present invention is a male and female safety cap to protect hose and liquid transport fittings and the hand of the operator. The male safety cap has a circular disk with a diameter larger than the female fitting and a loop handle. The female safety cap has raised parallel ridges to protect the cam arm and a loop handle. A T-handle cam is provided to improve handling. In one embodiment, the safety caps are covered in a resilient material to reduce shock. In another embodiment, the safety caps are molded from an electrical dissipative material to prevent static electricity buildup and discharge when removing the safety cap. The loop handle forms a continuous arcuate structure to provide protection to the operator's hand. The safety caps can be color coded or affixed with labels to prevent product cross contamination. Safety caps can be adapted to threaded couplings and fittings.

  • Publication number: 20090323192
Abstract: A prism system is disclosed for splitting a broadband incoming light beam. In one embodiment, the broadband beam enters the prism system and is shifted laterally through a parallelogram shaped prism. The beam then encounters a first dichroic coating treated surface. The light that is reflected off of the surface strikes the internal wall of the prism to undergo total internal reflection within the prism. The beam exits the prism parallel to the original incoming broadband beam. The beam that passes through the dichroic surface reaches a second dichroic coating treated surface where a specified waveband of light is reflected while the remaining wavelengths pass through. The beam reflected by the second dichroic surface undergoes a total internal reflection and exits parallel to the incoming broadband beam. The light beam which passes through the second dichroic surface exits the prism parallel to the original incoming broadband beam.

  • Patent number: 7637250
Abstract: Fuel management system for operation of a spark ignition gasoline engine. The system includes a gasoline engine powering the vehicle and a source of gasoline for introduction into the engine. A source of an anti-knock fuel such as ethanol is provided. An injector directly injects the anti-knock fuel into a cylinder of the engine and the control system shuts down the engine by stopping gasoline and anti-knock agent flow into the engine during vehicle deceleration and idling and restarts the engine upon driver demand. Direct ethanol injection and engine shutdown results in efficiencies similar to those of full hybrid vehicles.

  • Patent number: 7635932
Abstract: Thermal management of an electric machine is implemented by selecting a stator core configuration in accordance with an intended machine application and determining the minimum heat dissipation necessary to maintain the temperature of the core segment configuration at peak excitation within acceptable limits is determined. A core model is used to ascertain thermal distribution at peak excitation. In accordance therewith, a pattern in the selected core segment configuration is established for placement of at least one heat pipe for removing heat from the core. Preferably, heat pipes are located at high thermal points in the core segment and oriented in alignment with mapped lines of flux. By placing the heat pipe either at the center of the core or at a recessed boundary layer between the core and winding, the heat pipe can capture and conduct excess heat away from the heat generating areas of the core, thus maintaining the core and the excitation windings at desired temperature.
